Default New SCCA ITR Road Racing Class

Gentlemen, my name is Jeff Young and I am working with some of the muckity mucks at the SCCA (the Improved Touring Advisory Committee to be specific) to create a new Improved Touring class "above" ITS (if you are familiar with the IT class, "S" is the fastest and presently includes frontrunners like the E36 325is BMW at about 205 rwhp, the 2nd Gen RX7 at about 180 rwhp, the Datsun 240z at about 180 rwhp, etc.). Basically, the rules are free suspension within confines of stock mounting points, open exhaust, open brake pads, minimal motor mods (stock induction, free headers, .5 compression bump, port matching and that is it).

I'm trying to get V8 Mustangs with 190-215 stock crank hp classed but there is resistance on two fronts:

1. Whoa! Those cars have too much potential! Unbolt the emissions crap and you get 300 hp! I think this is silly, but can you guys give me reliable estimates (dyno plots would be helpful) of what a Fox or SN95 Mustang would put down at the wheels with teh mods discussed above? We are looking at a target for this class of about 190 to 230 whp.

2. Brakes. You guys will have to run stock brakes, except for fluid, metal lines and pads. You can duct the brakes all you want. Can they survive a 30 minute sprint race in this configuration?

Your thoughts please.

Thanks.

Jeff
