Default New guy//Cut outs

First off i'm brand new to this fourm, quick question about exhaust cut outs. I'm looking at a pair now, but im worried about them leaking or not closing right or how hard they are to change. Worth it? I really would like the sound though, how loud we talking?

Thanks!!

depending on the cutouts you get, they shouldnt leak. the Flowtechs from jegs have gaskets and wingnuts on the plate to keep it from leaking. all you have to do is measure the cutout, take your sawzall to the exhaust, cut out a section that length, and weld it in. it would be LOUD, depending on where you put it. if you put it after the headers but before midpipe like alot of people do, it would be almost equivalent to running straight headers. make sure to get a pair that can be changed easy because you WILL get pulled over for running cutouts.

you could run the electronic cutouts, they have them for chevys but theyll work just the same on ford, maybe a little wiring creativity. i think open headers sounds/runs like *** on the 4.6. not sure what motor you have but id run cut outs after the midpipe.

Loud and good sounding are not aleways the same thing. Plus you might actually loose some performance, depending on what other mods you have.
