Longtubes or shorties?
What I have seen is that shorties seem to show up on the torque curve on your dyno pulls. I have friends that insist on shorties no matter what, and they are producing crazy numbers 450-550rwhp. The last insane car I saw pulled 625rwhp on shorties, X-pipe, high flow cats and the obligatory they ain't doing any good but I'm putting them on anyways single chambered flow's (why they are called mufflers I have no idea). Anyways, it always seems to be a personal preference with these things. I think you can run big numbers with either. Long tubes for me are the way to go, they are more difficult to install but that's what I like. But, don't feel like you cannot move up to the next level with shorts, they make some great performers.
Whichever you choose.Watch out for bottoming out.If your car is lowered, youmay run into problems.Hooker makes a good long tube header that works great if your car is lowered.
honestly in the end they are both headers and & are better than the stock manifolds. long tubes make more power, but not a lot more. On any FI application i doubt the difference in headers is gonna be something thats very noticeable but i just feel that long tubes are something that makes my car different from all the old 5.0 with shorties (and i love the foxes just sayin i like bein different), its more of a preference but lt's will make better power not alot, but it'll be there. its also worth bein a PITA in my opinion i dont think you will ever say. . . "Man i wish didnt do lt's"
