As it has been stated, no centri. Go w/ Twin screws for instant boost. As far as getting a 97 GT to 450rwhp, you will have to do full boltons, cams, and heads and a forged rotating assembly. After that you can crank up the boost to whatever you desire. Dont forget to upgrade the ignition, and fuel and TUNE, Tune, TUNE!!!!

Which heads? Can't be PI, too much compression. So which heads should I look for or what should I do to my heads to handle that much? Will just the port and polish do?

your motor will be fine with a KB on it. it wont kill the motor. altho it makes boost much lower in the rpm band, it wont make boost unless you get on it. drive like a sane person and the motor wont even know the KB is there

Well that's good to know. What about doing the heads, though? Should I swap them or port and polish the stock ones? If I do swap, which ones should I get?

You don't want to overwork it but want 450+?!

I think you need to re-evaluate your platform.

Instant boost, weekend car = KB. That's answered.
You don't want to overwork the car = keep the boost sane, 6-9 PSI. Answered.
You actually want to drive on the street = 3.27, 3.73 tops for gears. Answered.
To deal with all of the above = full length SFC's, rear LCA's. Not asked but answered.

This will be a what, someone help me here, 320rwhp? If you want 450+, you need a PI swap or better yet, a built motor to strap the KB onto...

Again, nothing wrong with your goals, just using the wrong platform to get there. What's wrong with a '97 with a KB making 320 rwhp? Absolutely nothing.

Get rid of the 97 and get a 05 or up. The new 3v and kenne bell got it together. A blower alone with no other mods and you be in the 430 - 450 rwhp range with 8 lbs boost.

heh.. then the blower would be out of the question unless he does a built motor. high compression is the lose for blowers. [:@]

You are right there; nothing wrong with a 320 hp car. I simply want a car that will pull hard enough to impress me every time I want to stomp on the gas. I have ridden in 300 hp cars and they don't pull nearly hard enough for me. I suppose I can do it your way and then make the decision to go higher or not. That doesn't sound like a bad way to go. I plan to have the car for quitea long time, so I can always forge the internals to run more boost with the s/c on that stock engine, can't I? Anyone else have adifferent rout to suggest? (asside from buying the 05+. Good idea, but there's no reason to spend 20k on the platform and another 5k on the s/c when I can attain the goal of over 400 for less than what that car costs to buy.)
