i have a 01 Gt with vortech s/c and jst yesterday i noticed a sort of chattering and grinding noise coming from the s/c unit at idle. and at about 3500 rpms you can hear it really loud it changes the sound comin from my engine completely. does anyone know wut this could be cuz all i know is that it sounds and feels terrible. thanks

Vortech has good support via e-mail, start with an email from their website describing the problem, they can tell you how to proceed.

Check the bypass valve and make sure it isn't stuck closed. That will make them chatter as well.

 

im sure ur runnnig into the same problem i recently ran into with my p1sc procharger. Thats how mine started as well, but after a while it seized up on my and the engine cant keep it running. Check for play in the impeller, and if u have any then i wouldnt run it and talk to vortech. Also check ur belt and if u see some new wear on in ( more than one fray spot) then thats probly what happened. Now i cant tell u exactly what went wrong, but my head unit has been shipped to procharger and i should know something within a week or so. I really wouldnt run it like that cause u might screw up the housing and then they will charge u more for a rebuild if u need one. Hope this helped
