You should try rotating your tires every other oil change or about 5K-6K miles.
Holy cow, you've got to be kidding???!!!Two oil changes in 3-5K mi? [&:][&:]
Hi steelcomp,

No I'm not kidding. With conventional dinosar based oils you can only really go about 1,500-3,000 miles depending on your useage, driving patterns, amount of dirt in the air etc.between oil changes before your contamination levels get too high. Metals from normal wear but mostly dirt, fuelandacids formed during combustion all are in there poluting your engine and accellerating wear. You might wantto trybuying an oil contamination kit to test your oil or send in samples of your oil for testing, it's not cheap but not really expensive.

Most folks who are driving daily and commuting on the freeway for 15-30 minutes each way are going to getmore mileage than a guy doing short hops in town lastingonly 5-10 minutes. Your oil needs to get fully hot to burn off fuel and certain contaminants, it not you have to change it more often.

I am also looking at adding wider tires for the back of my car but I have the stock 235-55-17. Anybody running anything wider? I want to keep these rims which I am very fond of

Hi ziperhead,

You do NOT want to run a staggered tire size combination because the car will understeer even worse than it does stock! Stagged wheel and tire combinations are for appearance only unless you have in excess of 450RWHP and tuned the suspension to work with this lopsided tire size. On an N/A car staggered is totally inappropriate if balanced handling is important!I loved my 05's anthracite Bullitts! But the choices in tire and brake options is limited if you stay with the 17"x8" wheels. Knowing this the only two decent tires I've seenin oursize of 255/50x17which is 27" tall and correctfor an S197 on 17"x8" wheels arePotenza RE750 andg-Force T/A KDWS.

Hi zipperhead,

Is your car lowered? If so you need to install some LCA reloaction brackets to restore your IC and launch grip. I like Steeda but BMR's are O.K. too but lack the same amount of adjustability as the Steeda brackets. Steeda LCA brackets have the most adjustment points on the market so you can dial in the IC just right.

I did lower the rear about a inch with Roush rear springs only. Honestly I have thinking that I should replace the lower control arms but thought the tires were the first thing to consider for traction. I will have to crawl under my car and measure the pinion angle to see where I am at.

Thanks for responding.

Default RE: Tires???

I just purchased some tires for mine. Ended up with the Nitto Invo's in 255/50/17 on the stock bullit wheel's. I love the tires. The fit on the stock rim, gives it a beefier/meaner look. They stick extremely well too. I used to break the stock tires loose starting at 4k RPM's in second gear until I shifted to third. These stick like glue, only spinning at the top half of first. My only complaint is that the sidewalls feel a little softer, the turn in isn't quite as crisp. It's not bad though. They are very quiet and excellent in the raintoo. I'm curious to see how long they will last. 260 treadwear, AA traction, A temp. Check out discounttiredirect.com.
