Default RE: Falken tires?

Step up to the ZE912's if you're going to get a Falken performance/all season tire.

ZE512's are an older design, arguably with lower performance intent, and there have been a few ongoing complaints about them. Difficulty in balancing/maintaining balance, soft cornering response, and a few concerning noise from the more sensitive individuals or perhaps those with high-end audio installations (I've experienced the first two, not fussy enough about the third to be involved). There's a huge discussion stickied in this thread in the "Tires and Wheels" forum over on maxima.org - the bottom line being that even though it appeared to be a good "bang for the buck" tire choicethree years ago you can do much better now. I'll give them a charitable "mass market" rating and leave it at that.

I'll be replacing that set of ZE512's with Bridgestone RE960AS when I get enough free time to set up my HF tire machine - and I won't be looking back. The Azenis on the other autocross car are a different story, however.
