Track tire pressure for stock radials?
Will dropping a few pounds of pressure in the stock Pirelli 255/35/17's give me slightly better traction at launch? I'm taking her to the track tonight and wondering what pressure I should be running in the front and rear to give me any better traction, if any, in my 60 ft. time. Thanks

WhenI ran the stock tires at the track, I'd bring the rears to about 27 psi, which is a minor drop in pressure. Personal best 60' on the stock tires is a 1.819.

when I went to the track I dropped my PSI in the rears to 25, left my fronts at 35.. didn't even see if a higher PSI in the rears would have made a difference, first run i had already dropped it.. in hindsight i should have had atleast a couple runs at stock psi then lowered it.
I did this based on someones recent post on S/S about how he ran 35psi 3x then dropped it down to 25psi and got a much better 60' with the same launch technique he used before.

Generally somewhere between 25-28 psi will work depending on track and temp and how much you clean the tires.
Carefull on cleaning the tires as all-seasons dont take well to excessive heat.
I may do a short stationary burnout, rolling burnout, or barely clean the tires depending on track temp.
My best 60 is 1.859 on 25 psi (cold). Scott C did 1.841 on 28 psi (100% stock car) and AmericanSpeeds 1.819 on 27 psi may be a record with stock 3.55 gears. I know a couple of 1.79 on 25 psi but thats with 4.10 gears.
