The Steeda rims are on the lighter end but are also strong which I wanted for a DD. Unfortunately I can't remember the weight.
The 285/40 KDWs are grippy and with the HP and low end torque I have getting the power to the ground on the track is not too bad - as long as it is dry and the car is pointed straight. My last track day started in the dry and then it really rained. Great way to learn throttle control!
I chose the 285/40/18s on 9.5 " rims as that was suggested as the largest wheel and tire that could go on both ends of a car lowered about an inch. I get very slight rubbing on the plastic inner fenders at full lock but it is not a problem. The Steeda rims also have the correct 45 mm offset.
The main reason i went to 18s was to clear the GT500 brake kit and as Steeda seels the same wheels for the GT500 I knew they would clear.
I just haven't had the opportunity yet to sign up for one of Chin's events. I personally know nothing about them, I've heard them mentioned a few times while hanging around other track junkies but didn't hear any pro or con comments.
I run with Chin most of the time. A+ group. Lots of track time.
