MUSTANG GT STRUT TOWER BRACE
#12
It serves its purpose
From Mustang World:
WHAT DOES THIS UPPER BRACE DO?
This brace keeps the shock towers from flexing / collapsing under hard driving conditions or minor accidents. The SN95 based Mustang's chassis is very stiff up front as is, but this brace will further increase the strength and stiffness up front. There are several manufacturers that make upper strut braces including Mac, Saleen, BBK, Steeda and more. The typical cost of this brace is $149 avg.
The S197 mustang will benefit from a shock/struct tower brace. B production Scca racing cars all use them so there must be something to it. I replaced the stock Ford Racing metal brace for the Shelby heavy Aluminum brace which is much stiffer than the stock one. I do feel a small diifference when pushing through the turns.
There is a lot of documentation on the net about these braces and what they do for all pony cars not just the mustang.

Wouldn't waste my money on a tower brace but this thing is intriguing the hell out me lol.

If you have a convertable, you can definitely feel the ride get smoother. In a hard top, it is harder to justify. If your springs are a lot stiffer than stock, it will help to stiffen up the chassis in response to it. The difference likely won't be felt but measured on a track. Unless you're competing for a prize it probably isn't worth it.

In a street-driven car the vast majority of what you're feeling is a reduction in cowl shake.
