You are not the only road course guy to be pulled over here by this great new Ford product.

I'll be test driving a GT (don't worry about me getting the power down ) as soon as my local dealer gets one with a manual.

If I like, I'm hoping 275/40/18 NT01s with some light wheels and some pads/fluid will be all she needs to run some really hot laps

I would be fun to hunt the German/Japanese at the track in a local (I live in Michigan) product

You go Johannes! Glad to meet a like minded person, more of us to come I'm sure!. Congrats on the upcoming purchase! Yeah, light track prep'ing and the GT is a serious Carrera killer. I read in some mag Ford's engine-ers recommend an oil cooler for sustained high rpm use. The ecu will pull things in if overheats, so no harm if happens, just mentioning as fyi if haven't heard.

[QUOTE=GTI-Guy;6934225]The more time on you spend on track the more you'll appreciate your car's handling and the more motivated you'll be to enhance it as your skills improve. 300 HP and great handling let's you run with pretty much anything. For the rich guys / rich cars with more HP that outpull you on a straight, it's soooo rewarding to pull them in back in the corners!

THAT's just a guilt pleasure of a good time.

Semper Fi for the new breed of road course focused Mustang enthusiasts!

I'm quite stoked that the upcoming V6 Mustang is the handler it is and not some over cushioned poser.

I feel that 300 hp is all a real driver needs also however i just like the sound of a thrumming v8 so in about a year or 2 im gonna pick up a used 2010 gt

Thank you for stating that, some of the current GT guys need to listen to this! You'll have a great platform to work with. You can bolt on add ons at a discount /ebay price thanks to the model year change (guys selling off their cars and piecing out the sale of what they added to the car) in addition to getting a great deal on the initial purchase. The Bullit's / 2010's / 2011's handle. If you really crave more power load up the software / CAI combo.

Yes but Motortrend got 5.1 and 13.7 @ 102. With the optional 3.31 Axle I would say its a match for a 2005-2009 Mustang GT.

At $24,885 MSRP this might just be the best buy in a performance car.
$22,995 (Includes $850 destination) + 395 (3.31 Axle) + $1495* (Performance Suspension Pkg and 13.2/11.8 Brakes)
*Performance Suspension Pkg (Mid-Summer Availability) Price is based on the $1500 Estimate Ford Engineers have been throwing around.

That said I could not resist my 2011 GT 300A with two options... Spoiler Delete and 3.55 Gears. The V6 just didnt seem like mcuh of an upgrade on my 2007 GT.

.
I agree, is a game changer. Your GT 2011 will be a monster. As the one guy posted, track tires and brake pads and go forth & conquer!

i am a track junkie as well. i will be taking my 2010 GT trackpack to roebling road in savannah this weekend to get base lap times. for this trip i will be comparing my car to my dad's Cayman S, in which i managed a 1 min 27 sec lap time in moderate traffic.

after this trip to the track i will begin upgrading my car with, light weight wheels, 14 in rotors w/ 4 piston baer brakes, shocks/struts, and springs. when all of that is done i will start adding power. needless to say, im excited for this weekend

I like the path you're talking for modding your car. Suspension, braking, weight ... power last. Cayman's are awesome track scapels, you're Dad knows cars. Have a great time at the track and report back. Don't push it at first, just get the feel for the car and ramp up gradually. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Track season for me starts this Thursday.
