Default Rearend bottoming out...

Bought an 07 mustang gt with low miles on it, never had anything done to it and the suspension felt soft, the roads around here are not the best but if I would hit the bump to hard or fast it sounded like the rear of the car was bottoming out. I put a set of Eibach springs all the way around it, it lowered it about an 1" but stiffened the ride.... but it still bottoms out. Is there something that can be done, am I missing something??? I usually don't abuse my car and it isn't like I am taking it off-roading here. It is driven normally and I don't think the bumps are that bad and the car shouldn't hit like that. Any help or advice would be great.

Thank you
Mckinley

Either slow down on those bumps :-) or get some shocks with better damping.

After reading several other posts I think it is the rear shocks bottoming out.

No, the rear shocks aren't bottoming out. And in fact it's normal for the car to be all over the bumpstops. The trouble is your shocks aren't damping things very well in all likelihood. Meaning you slam onto the stops harder and faster than you should.

And exhausts are issues, it's very common for the right muffler/tip to jostle around and hit the bumper on quicker harder impacts. It comes through as a "bang".

"Bottoming out" is one of the most often used, and most incorrectly used terms there is. What is bottoming out? Hitting the bumpstops? Not abnormal in a stock car. Completely common in a lowered car. Hell on Pro-kits you probable are damned near sitting on them. And here's the trick, that's better than not. I just replaced some that were cut in an effort to make things better--that didn't work, the stock stops work better.
