Wheel Widening on 2011 GT500 SVTPP
Hey guys,
I love my car and have wanted to increase its performace since i got it about a year ago. However i elected to stay away from the engine for warranty reasons and have since only upgraded my rear suspension with LCAs and Panhard Bar. They work great and have eliminated much of the wheel hop however i would like to make the car hook up a little better. I know its a GT500 and its going to spin, just feel that increasing traction could provide a good boost in performace without messing with the engine. With that said, see below...
I have been wondering for a while if it is possible to widen the rear wheels enough to allow a slightly wider tire in the rear? Has anyone had previous experience on this? If so im looking for how much the wheel was widened and also is it possible to widen the SVTPP wheels? I do not want to widen them outward only inward to maintain the stock lines.

Try posting this question on the teamshelby.com website. I've seen several types of wheels discussed, when it comes to widening, but not the SVTPP wheels....so I'm not too sure what the limits are.

I'v had some 18X10's on the rear of three of my Stangs. They had a 6/8's backspace and never gave me any problems. They were two 06's and a 07 and worked fine, haven't tried them on my 2011 GT yet. Had 18X9's on the front and they threw rocks on the side panels and I didn't like that but they worked fine otherwise.
With the fat wheels on front, it wanted to follow the studded tire grooves and pulled to the left a bit.LOL
