09 GT new tire help
Hey all, looking to get a new set of tired to replace the stock 235/50 R18. I am running the stock polished GT 18" rims. I was looking to put a wider tire on the car to increase grip. I am running around 350-60hp and the 235 just doesn't hook up well. Can I get a 255/45 or 275/40 on the stock rims? Looking to put these all the way around so I would need turning clearance as well with this tire. I have a tuner to change the computer settings if needed.
I am looking at getting either the Cooper Zeon RS3-S, Continental ExtremeContact DW, or Hankook Ventus V12 evo K110. I am currently leaning toward the continental or cooper. I want something with good hook up and solid cornering performance. Quiet ride, and good trend wear would also be nice. Would like to get 20k or more out of the tires if possible. This will only be driven in the summer and the occasional wet road so I am not looking for an all season tire. Any experience you have with these tires would be helpful or if you have something you like better let me know!
I also need to re-polish the stock rims. I was going to use some mother chrome polish and a polish ball on my drill. Anyone have experience doing this? Any tips or methods would be helpful. Does anyone clear coat after to help keep the shine?
Thanks for all the help everyone!

I have been doing some research and based on the info I have found am switching to a high performance all season tire because they have double the tread wear of the summer tires. Anything will be better then the stock bfgoodrich tires. I am now stuck between these
Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3
Continental ExtremeContact DWS
Cooper Zeon RS3-A
Hankook Ventus S1 noble2
I am leaning cont. DWS but Michelin has a rebate that makes them about the same price. Thoughts?

Do not go any wider than 255/45 on wheels that are 8.5" or maybe only 8" wide. 275/40's need to be on wheels that are at least 9" wide (and really belong on 9.5" or 10" if you want that size for performance reasons rather than just appearance).
If you can get any tire in Michelin's "Pilot Sport" series at a good price, give them very, very serious consideration. I have had the Pilot Sport A/S Plus (forerunner to the A/S 3) on my wife's car for the cooler months the last four years and have been quite impressed with them (I'm apt to drive kind of hard from time to time, so impressing me is not necessarily an easy thing). Although they aren't all-seasons, I also just bought a set of Max Performance Pilot Super Sports - which are 300 treadwear BTW - primarily for the Mustang's track day outings and which are waiting on some wheels to be built.
