Checking out a 2010 Shelby GT500 in a few hours...some questions.

I, too, am hopefully getting a 2010 Shelby GT500 this week. Only thing that will stop the deal is if it got damaged in shipping. Anyway, I test drove 2 of them at different dealers and even a Rousch Mustang GT. Nobody gave me any problems with driving them. I bought this one at MSRP even. Most dealers around here were selling them at MSRP. I only found 3 dealers who were marking them up. One backed off right quick and said he would let it go for MSRP. The only two are just trying to rip the customer off and I told them that. Actually, I said are selling the car for MSRP or less or just price gouging above MSRP. They didn't like that too much but who cares. Here in Portland, Oregon, those were the only 2 doing that.
I wouldn't pay over MSRP for one. I also called some other states and most said MSRP.

I personally know the dealer that I bought mine from. He says that they don't let anyone test drive the GT500's unless they put down $10,000 for any possible damages. I had bought mine before it even arrived at the dealership. There are only three options I'm aware of: HID headlights, Shaker 1000, and the NAV system. I have the HID, Shaker 1000, and a car cover and paid 48,600. The dealership paid 46,600 and they were going to sell it for 50,600. The NAV system adds over 2,000 on the price. Just giving you an idea of where you are on the price you're paying. I think he did the old "raise the price and then come down so you think you're getting a deal" trick. Either way, you'll love it. Tons of power, add mods and get even more, and a lot of looks in traffic.
Sir Hootch,
Can you give me the contact details of your dealer? I am getting one and i think you got a great deal so I wanna follow suit.
Please help me. Thanks

I picked up a pre-owned, yes you read right, 2010 black/w gray stripe, HID,Nav...had 3k miles...for $44k...owner had not even cracked the owner's manual, car is in absolute mint condition, 5 months old....and of course, test drove it, cannot believe a dealer would say no to a test drive

not test driving is pure stupidity.
I can see Dealerships hesitating to let everybody drive one though. Think of all the young punks who just want to run the car hard, and then walk away.
But I know they'll do a test drive if you show hardcore interest...aka you have papers waiting to be signed, and the only thing left to do is your signature on the dotted line. then do the test drive. that shows committment
I remember back in 2006 when I bought my F-150. they had 2 vert GT500's for about $70k. 1 month later when I came back to get my plates, those 2 cars were $48k (MSRP). I'd wait them out. Especially once the official 2011 #'s are released

what if you didn't like the way the front end is heavier than a GT? or the way they aren't quite as nimble due to that 5.4 4v?
oh well, I am slightly jealous. maybe one day

Wow, that's the first time I'm hearing about a used 2010 GT500 already. Seems too soon. That's a good price you got too. Why did the owner sell it?
My hope is that in a year or two (depending on what's going on in a year) I want to look for a used 2010 GT500. My hope is by then, I can get one under 40. I've seen GT500's for upper 30's so I think it's possible. Maybe they'll be selling the 2010's to get a 2011 w/ the aluminum block.

The original owner ( in his mid 60's) said the car was too much for him, and his wife said trade it in, that was that,he trade to a Chevy dealer...I drove it, had a mechanic check it top to bottom, made the deal, still have 30 mnths new car warranty...there seem to be alot for sale on Ebay,Auto Trader, etc at MSRP, I would not pay a dime more than that
one more comment, regarding test drives, I have owned several vettes, AND ALWAYS test drove before I put the $ down, ALWAYS, and usually w/o a sales person...the same with the GT500, if the dealer would have ever said no, I would have walked out the door
