Default Boom Tubes leaking

I installed a set of Boom Tubes that were previously on the 08 Mustang Gt I sold onto my new to me 09 GT500. After adjusting and re-adjusting the Boom Tubes and clamps serveral times, I am still getting a slight exhaust leak on both sides where the Boom Tubes attach to the mid pipes. Anybody have any ideas on how to stop the leak? I would prefer not to have the Boom Tubes welded in at this point since i'm not sure if I want to try the KR mufflers.

is it the attachment to the midpipe or the over axle pipe?

you might try a better clamp.

I have the same problem. Went from 06 gt to an 09 gt500. took my corsa's off of gt and put on the gt500. They both leak on the gt500. I think i need to get new clamps. All i know is that the right side was incredibly hard to take off and put on. My gt was 10 times easier to install the mufflers on.

It was the attachment to the over axle pipe. I'll look into some other clamps. I ended up breaking one of the clamps that came with the Boomtubes becauase I tightend it too much. I took the stock clamps off of the stock mufflers and those leaked as well.

I wonder if there is a slight difference in the exhaust pipe that is causing the leak. Putting the Boomtubes on my 08 GT was much easier and only required one adjustment.

I think we are on to something. I thought it was just my car, but we both have the same problem. I am gonna try some new clamps and see if that works.

The clamps that come with the Boomtubes are junk. What you want to use are band clamps: http://www.napaonline.com/Search/Det...148_0306020323
Tighten them with an impact wrench, these won't leak.

Description:

"The boom tube axle back exhaust is known for straight through performance and a one of a kind sound. Fabricated right here in the USA from 100% stainless steel, this exhaust looks as good as it sounds. It also features 2.5" mandrel bent tubing with 4" high polished tips. If you are looking for that signature muscle car rumble, then this is the exhaust for you. Bolts in with minimal effort and includes all hardware. It will also add a significant amount of horsepower and torque to your pony! This high quality, great sounding exhaust comes with a full lifetime warranty. What more could you ask for in an exhaust?"

I've been driving around with these on for about a week. I must be too old because they are too loud for me. I will be putting the stock mufflers back on.
