Default just found a 89 Saleen for little of nothing

I work at some apartment in middle tn. I have a resident here who needs out of his lease and has a 89 saleen that runs. He told me if i get him out of his lease he would give the car to me. It will cost me about $1,500. The car is #155 of 200. I think its a deal! what about u?

Well, any '89 5.0 the runs is PROBABLY worth 1500. So if you are asking reassurance I suppose its worth it. But are you curious if its real or any of that? If so, give us the VIN and we can look it up to tell if its legit or if it was "cloned".

If you are wanting to restore to original/collector value that could cost some serious money, and all those Saleen parts can be hard to find.

it has all the plates insides and on the firewall and reads #155 of 200 i thought there was more than that made? its not to clean and needs a lot of love. I have a 91 gt now so i'll have fun anyway. I am running a car fax today but i know its a northern car

Its probably a clone - none of the plaques (to my knowledge) say anything about total production [&:] Think about it, how can they know that it is 155 of 200 when they build it - when they don't know how many they are actually building until the model year comes to a close. I'll look in the book tonight, but I thought there were more than 200 made in '89 also.

Play the leverage game if you can - tell him you'll need the car and some cash to get him out of his lease

If it's the kind of car you are looking for it's worth $1500, real or not. I had an 89 hatchback and I think they made 500+ of them that year. i think sowaxeman is right, and they didnt have any total count on the plates.

The VIN you gave me checks out - #155 ends in 664 so it appears to be legit. But the plaques should say 89-155, so something is wack if they read 155 of 200 [&:] Plus there were 895 Saleens done in '89 (549 hatches, 165 verts, 20 coupes, 161 SSC's and 3 trucks.
