2000 S281SCquestions
Hello. I'm looking at buying a 2000 S281SC, i was curious how the saleens are built.
More specifically, we know comes from a Mustang GT, but is it a fully loaded-options maxed mustang or just a minimal GT. I tried contacting saleen but i didnt get a response via email or their phone. I know there were some cobra saleens made, so i'm just curious if anybody knows. ABS and TCS were options, but according to Saleen, TCS was offered as their own option. Is it a enhanced TCS for their suspension/wheels that replaces the optional TCS option in the GT, or is it that they got the car from Ford w/o a TCS system.
Basically since i'm looking at getting the S281SC, the one i'm looking at has no TCS option according to patti at saleen, but she didnt know if the stang already came with one. Any help would be appreciated.

The Saleens start life as a regular GT. Dealerships would order a car (from Ford)and have it sent to Saleen for the conversion. So, if a dealer ordered a car with options, that Saleen would have them. There weren't really that many options available back then though. I never knew of Saleen having thier own traction control system. If the car has it, it is factory Ford.Sometimes there are factory options that are removed from Saleen. For example, the S197 platform. If a dealer odered a car with leather seats and seat air bags, Saleen removes them to install their seat covers and deletes the bags.
