Specialty Edition Saleens?

RE: Specialty Edition Saleens?
I think the PJ's were the start of the trend, but at least they were a one year run only. The typical S-281/SC's/Extreme/H302/H302SC/S302E are all pretty rare cars even if there are 6+ models to choose from. But the cars that deserve the Special Edition monikers are the ones that come about very rarely and are built in ULTRA low quantities.....SA-5 (1), SA-10/15/20 (10) Armed forces (8 ofeach Red, White, Blue) and the Sterling (25) and yet to be released SA-25.
Now speaking of the SA-5, according to the Saleen Book there was only one car produced and it wasan anniversaryprototype for the next years SSC that came out. But recently in 5.0 Magazine I saw a blurb in the Editors opening remarks about a surprise 2nd SA-5 that had been hidden away for years. Of course this was the April issue and he did make a April fools comment but wasn't sure if his entire article was a farse or just the last paragraph. Anyone know anything about that [&:]

RE: Specialty Edition Saleens?
Jason, I thought that Mark at Performance Autosport had that SA 5 car at one time? I know I saw it there for sale at one point. I think ifyou search his sight you will see some pictures of it in the screensaver side or the are of sold cars. He might have more details on whether there was another one built. Also the guys at SCOA may know as well.
I liked the car because it was black but again it had the black DP wheels and I think would have looked better with the Sterns if they were available at the time.

I just hate to see them dilute the Saleen line, especially with the cars that don't look much different then a standard GT (heritage, although I admitedly like the way they look). As far as "n" of 500 on the dash plaque, that doesn't make much sense unless they are counting 500 for each run (H, PJ, S280, SC, RF, etc...). I know they're making more then 500 cars per year...
