Yeah..you aren't going to hurt it. Run 12 volt battery power to the gauge wire, and just ground the black wire to the negative battery terminal or any metal surface of the car.

If the light truly won't work..let me know..I think I have an extra gauge without the plug i'll just give ya.

Also..make sure you put power on all the wires (except for the ground)..if memory serves me right, I belive it was the blue wire that controlled the backlighting.

Thanks man. You're the best. I'll give it a try ASAP.

The gauge you have; is it wires sticking out the back or can I plug in the correct "plug" off the harness/

I cut the plug off, but I still have it.

Yeah if I have it you'll need to put the plug on this one, I think the metal connectors are there, but the plastic plug is gone.
I'll look tonight when I get home- I *think* I still have the temp gauge..I usually don't throw stuff like that away. Just ask my wife. LOL.
