Hi, Good day. I would like to ask if my 2014 gt could pass a sniff/tailpipe emission test (no OBD II test). All stock except long tube headers and high flow catted x pipe ( not green ones) by kooks. Our law requires us these standards. HC (ppm) < 250 and CO (%) < 0.5%. Also may i know some our your results? Thank you.

Depends on the Cats, and how hot they are at testing. Make sure they're to operating
temperature, and they can test it right away. Also, some auto stores have an additive
you can add to your gas to help reduce emissions, use with a low tank, then fill up when
you pass.

A good-operating EEC-IV system, before OBD-II, can easily produce results passing those requirements. My '79 Ranchero, which I fitted with a '92 5.0L HO from a wrecked Police Car, actually recorded 45ppm HC and 0.0% CO, with NO CATS! imp

Thanks. I will make sure that they're to operating temperature. I get around 720F-840F readings from OBDII at idle and little revs.

Sorry sir. If the tune is good enough like air fuel ratio, it means that i could pass easily with or without the cats? Thank you

Without OBD-II testing, possibly. It depends on whether or not the testing facility will accept a vehicle which passes the emissions tests, but does not have all it's original factory-installed emissions-related equipment intact on the vehicle.

The reason my early vehicles equipped with late-model EFI passed was that they were required to meet the emissions standards in place at the time of their year of manufacture. They were originally carburetor-engines, so the standards were "looser" than they are later. Your 2014 year requires that OBD-II level requirements be met, in the United States. If you are outside the states, I cannot answer knowledgeably. imp

Without the cats, it probably will NOT pass a tailpipe test. You can fool OBDII,
but not a probe what's measuring what's going out the tailpipe.
