Sticky Manual Transmission help???
Hello all!
I have recently purchased a 2000 Mustang GT and have noticed that the shifter is much too rough (this was the best term I can come up with for it). What I mean by this term is that it is always hard to move it from gear to gear, and even from and while still in neutral. It is not a smooth feeling at all. The best way I can describe the feeling is that while in neutral, it seems to have spots where it likes to stick and causes a lot of clicks (such as metal touching metal) while it hits those spots. These "clicks" seem to transition into the gears themselves, and are really loud.
I am relatively new to a manual transmission, but have a pretty good idea of how it works. If there is something a little technical, I can likely figure it out, so go ahead a let me know. Also, if this is not the best place to put this, let me know where it needs to go and I can try to see to it that it gets there. Would really like to figure this out without replacing any unnecessary parts.
Thanks in advance!

Is sounds as though you need to take some slack out of the clutch cable so that the clutch disengages more. Assuming you are pressing the pedal to the floor, and it is still hard to shift. These clutches are designed to have a bit of preload on them. it should be fully disengauged by about 1/2 to 3/4 pedal.
You can get down on the floor and push the pedal by hand to the floor and use a large screw driver to hold that quadrant gear in place while you lift the pedal up. It will click as you lift it you only want 1 or 2 clicks then you can release the entire thing. This will adjust the quadrant and take a little slack out of the cable and make it disengauge more.
