What is the penalty in Dallas for being caught with a bottle?

Some ppl say that is ok as long as line is not connected
others say they can tow your car.

I am confused on this subject and would like to know what is exact law

 

I have never heard of it being illegal in Houston in 20 years of driving. I see cars and friends with it all the time.

 

I live in garland and my buddie got his car towed for having it but it was all hooked up
