I apoligize wasnt trying to be ignorant at all I just said that in a 1/4 mile drag race even if the srt-4 is a 14.0 second car the 4.6 gt comes in at 14.0 @98 mph.I know this because I own a 01 GT that "was" completly stock came in at those numbers at the drag strip. What I did say is that I am hearing from the 4 banger group peole say that the rice burners like the cobalt SS and the srt-4 will walk all over a GT like it's nothing.all in all im not knocking the cobalt nor the srt-4.
This doesn't even make sense. How are American made cars that actually put out huge numbers stock considered rice? Is it because of the stock wing? Mustang GTs have non-functional hood scoops and non-functional brake ducts...so are Mustangs rice? I surely think not. Is it because SRTs and Cobalts are four bangers with forced induction and not "muscle cars"? I surely hope not. Please educate yourself.

200 horsepower is "huge numbers" ??

What has the world come to?

*sigh*

If Mustangs didn't weigh 3300 lbs, 260 hp (220-225 whp, right?) and 302 ft lbs (270-280 wtq?) would be huge numbers too.

Boost is a great equalizer.

So is the 260 hp at the crank of a Mustang GT "huge numbers?" A stock SRT4 weighs barely 3000 pounds and puts out about 225 WHP. I know Dodge rated them lower, but they are indeed underrated. Look at stock dyno graphs if you don't believe me. But that's not the point. The point is that a stock Mustang GT puts out 245 (ballpark) WHP and an SRT (a few hundred pounds lighter) puts out 225 WHP. To me, that's not a very big difference.

Moral of the story - People do not give other cars/owners respect. If you don't like what someone is saying, ignore it or race them and beat them. Bitching on the Internet about how someone in a turbo four banger is trash-talking your Mustang isn't going to get you anywhere.

Stock, street-tired supercharged Cobalts are very solid mid 14 second cars (maybe even low?) and will trap at about 100. With some traction and a favorable DA I wouldn't be surprised to see a stock one kiss 13.9.

For $1500 i'll have a Slobalt in the high 12's.

Let us know when this actually happens and post a slip.
I certainly will. I figure sinceeveryone with the intense Stage 3 setup, plus stage 2 clutch, intake and full corsa exhaust(which is the setup i'll get) are running a 13.6, 13.5 or a 13.4 with regular street tires, that if I get some drag radials it could possibly put me in the high 12's. If not, very close. It puts out 270 whp and 237wtq. With all of that it's around the $1500 range and is cheap(I think) to mod a little car. Now, with saying all that, I have to save up a little bit more money for it so, I might not actually have it ordered till July and in until August, so after that we'll see what thing little thing can put out.

I still love the " Cobalt SS/SC is a high 14 second low 15 second car " bull****.

My 2001 Z24 with 139whp ran a 15.2 and a 2006 SS 2.4VVT with 145whp runs 15.1-15.3.

So how does a car that weighs the same as the SS 2.4VVT but has 75 more whp run the same times?

Just asking.

simple. the driver. the AVERAGE cobalt driver will run a high 14 low 15. the AVERAGE 99+ GT driver will run a mid 14. plain and simple. now drop it.

I still want to know when Cobalts starting trapping 100+?????????????? Most trap mid 90s so I don't see how they are faster than a 99-04 GT which traps high 90s stock.

They'll do that with MODs, not stock. Mid 90's is best I seen in stock form. But needless to say, with drag radials with would trap 100+, but then the any car would trap higher with drag radials.

See, you'd think that because you're a rookie. But usually they don't trap higher with DR's. 99.99999% of the time, they trap LOWER! Wow...How's that for logic?
