its complicated but in short a rotary engine has no crankshaft, rods, or pistons. it has a rotor (can have more than one rotor which is the equivilent to more pistons or displacement) that looks like a triangle that rotates and each side of the triangle has a dedicated function (as opposed to each piston stoke doing a function)....basically everything is moving in one direction (instead of up and down strokes) so they can be revved like crazy. usually its actually the accessories not the rotary that limits the revs to 9 grand or so. turbocharge (and/or add rotors) the rx8 (ie the rx 7) and you see some sick hp from a tiny engine
this is what it looks like and you can read up if you care to know more

So drive your happy *** down 2 miles west to either S&V or the other liqour store on US14... lol

Scott's is a grocery store... New Haven's is a limited store, needs to be upgraded badly. The phone system in there is one of my company's systems.

PS... I was in New Haven Saturday afternoon playing baseball, I was actually at Scott's last night getting some Faygo pop.

the RX-8 is meant to be driven, not just run down a track. It has an almost perfect weight distribution and is an extremely smooth ride. They had it on Top Gear where they absolutely praised the car.

it can be argued that the 1.3l rotary is effectivly displacing 2.6l, but I dont want to get into that one.
Perhaps someone knows a website that has it explained.
