The Ls series is deffinately something every american should be proud of i mean they were designed to perform

you guy notice how there is always a Ford vs Chevy debate and i don't see that ending anytime soon and i like the Chevy enigines and say they would be the **** in a mustang notice i said mustang not Ford hehe

ok now on to my question this is to all the chevy diehards how do Chevies stack up to Hemis and why are Hemis never metioned i personally think that they aren't given enough credit and is it true that Chevy wants to/has already sued Dodge for their engines being Ls like?

and weren't the orininal terrors of the 1/4 mile Hemis who makes the most powerful enigne Chevy or Dodge ford isn't in this i'm talking Na form of course that the only form that counts this includes crates 2 thanks in advance

the new hemi's arent anything like the old ones if i remember right. they only share the hemispherical combustion chamber which was supposed to be more efficient, and was at the time producing good numbers (like 180hp in their debut). I believe the new motors are mostly just hemi in name, but the aftermarket is kinda slim, aside from that, they put that motor in a tank of a car like the 300c or charger (which is a 300c with a cosmetic upgrade). hard to be impressed by a 375hp car that runs 14s unless ur real lucky. and i dont think any of them come manual.... but i could be totally wrong about that

+1... The LS1 is getting old now but still a great engine that responds well to mods(or so I am Told) but I defiantely like the looks of a stang much better. Chevy engine with a stang look is tough to beat..........until you step into a C5/C6 vette

how so? ive never heard that the hemi motors copied the ls1. There are more than a couple ways to make good numbers on a stock smallblock

Yea, plus I wouldnt say the new hemi isent a really hemi. The thing that makes an engine a hemi is the hemispherical combustion chamber. Hence the name "hemi." And if you disargee then get this, Chrysler owns the name "HEMI" and can put it on any engine they'd like. Technicly making that engine a hemi

[Slight thread detour]

The new Hemis are actually really great motors. I would say that, in stock form, they'd be on par with the LS1 and LS3. It's just that, right now, they are all shoehorned into montrous boats. Drop a 5.7 or 6.1 Hemi into a 3400 lb car and get out of the way. It's a shame Dodge is gonna make the Challenger so heavy. A 3400-3500 lboffering could have really demonstrated what the new Hemis can do.

And, of course, it doesn't help that they made it very hard to modify and tune those motors. But hey, that's a German carmaker for ya.[8D]

[/Slight thread detour]

Now back to our regularly scheduled LS1 thread.

I pretty much agree with everything ThisBlood just said, LS1 = 5.7L Hemi.
Thank you DaimlerChrysler for not understanding power/weight ratio and allowing Mustangs and F-bodies to drag your Hemi-powered vehicles up and down the street and strip. And thank you in advance for the Challenger's curb weight and sticker price.

"on par" does not have the same connotations as copied. it was said that the hemi's copied the ls motors, to the point that GM may sue. i was wondering if there was any truth to this
