I assume you are referring to shifting with your foot OFF the gas?
Huh? Isn't that how most people shift or am I just misunderstanding you here? Assuming the latter.

Goddamnit will someone please clear that up? You're supposed to shift with your foot off the gas aren't you?

Powershifting: When you are cranking on your car and you push it into 6th gear when you drive a 5 speed car. [:@]

I Believe powershifting is when you DON'T let off the gas while shifting FAST. It's supposed to cut a little off of your times, but its not too nice on your car. People tend to do it at the track, but I don't think it's worth it on the street at all.

WRONG, this will kill your trans in a heartbeat, no matter what your dad/uncle or neighbor who used to be into cars or thinks they know what they are talking about says, it's wrong. Speed shifting are power shifting are the same thing. Man this same subject comes up every couple of weeks, I never relaized how much confusion there is about this.

So the rumor that there is a "perfect" rpm when you can shift without using the clutch is a myth? I've heard this from a couple of people.

So basically, don't NOT take the foot off the gas, and use the clutch at all times when shifting right? Powershifting is not worth doing? I'm still learning how to shift quickly for street races. Last time I tried to shift into 3rd and didn't push the clutch in hard enough so it grinded and rejected the gear back to neutral. I don't under stand how you could just jam it in gear without the clutch
