02 ZO6

For some reason, I was thinking that you were looking at an 01 Zo6, the 385 hp version. Yeah, it will be decently faster than your car now, but not light years faster. That isn't the reason you would buy this car. You buy it for the brakes and handling.

I know that a Corvette is known for handling and braking , but it's also beneficial that he'll be able to put almost a full second faster on his soon to be previous Camaro without doing a air filter swap on that ZO6. $28K for a well round performer (2002 ZO6) is as good as it comes..............

I am hoping i can get $17k for it on a trade-in. But i highly doubt it, they will probably try to offer me around $14k or so, which could be a deal breaker because i still owe $17k on it. I might post on LS1tech and try and sell it private party.

Well bad news, i went there this morning with the T/A and my checkbook. They got a deposit on it from somebody yesterday after i talked to them. Really sucks ***. But i am going to check back with them on Monday to make sure it was sold. If not, i am going to drop everything i am doing and run out there for it. I dont know how it ended up so cheap, when i got there the stickers on it said they wanted $36,995.00 for it. Which sounds about right, but i asked a sales guy and he said it had been discounted to $27,995.00. So I will be keeping my fingers crossed. Even if this one doesnt happen, i already posted my T/A up for sale and am going to sell ir irregardless. I think i just want a ZO6 of any year except 01. I think its time for something a bit "more". I would look into an 02 or so Viper, but i cant fit inside of them. Also wouldnt mind a 05-07 Vette, except I dont wanna spend anything over $45k on a car right now. Damn i wish those would sell for MSRP, or atleast somewhere within a couple grand of MSRP.
first off, have a carfax run on it since they dropped the price so much.
and secondly, the '02+ Z06's are the good ones, correct ?? or is it '03+ ?? C6 came out in '05........i think. how long was the C5(body style) out ?? what years ??

C5's ran 97-04.. all basically the same. All LS1's. I think in 01 or 02 they also did an interior update, but nothing to major.
THe biggest thing to watch for on the C5's is to make sure they have a solid state (gel type) battery. The single biggest issue with those vettes is the battery sits on a platform literaly RIGHT above the wiring harness and the PCM... and any minor battery leak, the acid was running down, and dripping on the wiring harness, the PCM, and sometimes the airvac lines for the ac system. It will cause the cars to throw codes, act all funky, etc... can be a very costly repair.
Anytime you look at a C5, make sure you pull the batter and inspect that tray.. and if you have a long extention handy, you can pull the tray as well and inspect the wiring to see if it looks like any acid got on it. Ive looked at a few C5's.. I saw one for 15,999 not long ago that I was really considering jumping on.. I checked that out, and the corrosion was so bad I tihnk I would have been scraping hte rust off the frame right there... It was pretty obvious why it was so cheap.
I am in the process of relocating now... so it'll be a while, but I am planning on either a "special" C4 (gs, zr1, or if god himself appears on my door step to hand me one, an early 90's LPE), or a C5.. the Z06's are a little more then I can dish out on a car though... trying to stay around 30k or less.
Also, if you dont mind taking a sideways step... for around 30, you can easily pickup a gen 1 viper w/ less then 50k on the clock. Not any faster, but its bigger attention getter. More of a wow factor to people then a vette... I see multiple vettes every day.. I see vipers mabey once every few months. lol.
damn man. how do u kno so much about 'Vettes ?? haha. thanks for the info tho.
and id DEFINITELY rather have a C5 Z06 than a Viper.....unless it was GTS coupe, which would be more expensive, so, id still rather have the Z06

Here are a couple of pics from the 79 and from my friends dad's vette.
You can see the new block/valve covers/etc on the 79.. just a basic pic of the 05.. I have tons more of it.
