Ok last night i pulled up next to this cocky guy in a brand new 06 eclipse and he looked over at me and then looked at the like so the light turned green and i had my car completely sideways lookin in his passenger window and then slamed second and pulled him by 3 car lengths and when i hit 3rd i was gone by at least 2 tractor trailers!!!!!!!!!! You guys don't want a first or second gen for a DD. I can give you a list if you want of which part is going to fail at what milage.
Had 4 of them in my family at one point, a 94 talon 2.0 N/A, a 92 laser 2.0 N/A, a 94 laser 1.8 N/A, and a 90 Talon AWD/turbo. All of them had the exact same probelms at almost the exact same mileage lol. They might be made fast cheap, but you won't be running around doing redline launchs in the AWD model like a STI, and it better have low miles on it

Of all the cars you just rattled off from "experience", only 1 was a DSM.

I would normally respect anyone's opinion, but since you just attacked DSM's, I will do the same to you. I have owned 3 DSM's (A GS-T Eclipse '96', 92 Talon TSI, and current 'racecar', 90 Talon TSI. What exactly was the problem with your "NON-TURBO RACECAR" that went wrong?
I have never had a problem with any of my 3 DSM's that were maintained by me personally, who took care of your friend's, a Mitsu expert? LOL.

a car is only reliable if its been maintained. a brand new 2006 GT in the wrong hands will only last a couple thousand miles before sh*t starts breaking.. maybe even less.
when you take care of a car.. it shows.

So if I take your logic, that means that the Terminators of 03/04 are slow just because they use power adders. PLEASE. These cars are just plain fast so GIVE IT UP.
I wasn't really worried about the vets of this forum to call me a ricer, since they know I like everything, but I was just informing the NON-informed newbs like you that I know what's up in the racing world, because they know I'm not biased, I just like to defend what's taught to be WRONG.

If you think an 06' 4banger eclipse (car in question) is a mean car, re-think it. For a stock 5.0 to beat it, it HAD to be a 4 banger, the V6 version would pull a stock 5.0, heavy or not.
My friends roll around in 11 second 4 bangers all day as a DD. I do not think 4bangers are rice. SOme of the fastest street cars in my town only have 4 cylinders. For example, my friends DD was a 99 civic SI. It ran 11.6@126mph.
