Be careful w/ those eclipses, especially if its a 1g. they can be very quick. i have a 90 eagle talon which is the same thing (let the flaming begin) but its only my winter car because its an AWD. The only thing i did to it was a boost controller to run 11 PSI and i pulled on my buddy's stock EVO IX. The only problem is i think its gunna blow up soon... but then again thats what an import deserves.

the 1st and 2nd gen eclipses were almost exactly the same especially speed wise. and if its only got 7 psi then you should win. i had one a few months ago before i got my stang and i know my stang is faster then that car was. I was running 15 or 16 psi most of the time, and 7 psi isn't even stock on those cars unless i was told wrong cause mine was running 9 or 10 psi and i was told that was stock. even with the 16g turbo upgrade you should win they don't really make much difference except they can handle more boost and do a little better at high rpm. sure there is some free mods but they don't do much, i know cause i did most of them. it was a fun car and could give my car a run for its money but i'm sure the stang would come out on top

I really don't think that they are faster stock, I own an 90 awd turbo talon and it is definatly not as fast as my mustang even back when my mustang was stock. But their engines are pretty tuff for 4 cylinders they can be made take up 400hp on stock internals.

Just race him, he will get about 1/2 through 2nd and it will break down or his dip stick will come flying through his hood and you will win

just my .02 cents

idk much about eclipses ...not sure about what kind it is...sorry...everyone around here says that i would probably come out on top easy...well the ones that are into cars...and actually knwo what my cars got under the hood and all....most ppl at my school are chevy fans and what are some free or really cheap mods i can do to my stang?
Since no one really helped ya on this one......bump your timing to 14* or so. You may need to go to 91-93 octane, especially if you go higher. Take out/off anything you don't need. I dumped my backseat when I redid the carpet to lose a little extra, although it isn't that much.

New plugs, wires (msd), cap/rotor, tranny fluid, rear end oil (RP 75w90), more frequent oil changes, etc. All those things will help you out a lot. I would also look at getting a new coil (msd blaster tfi). The stock parts there are probably hurting....
