In the manual it says that pop mode is turned off because cops are not suspose to issue tickets in this mode. But i dont trust that so i turned mine on.

what the hell is the "pop mode"?????
yeah i called and they told me how to turn it on so i did already.
they told me to hold the two buttons together for two seconds(city and dim buttons) then it should pop up a menu. You go to bands then you hit the dim button. You keep clicking thru and you will see pop off. There is a button on the front that blends in the screen but its a mute button(on the right front) hit that once you have gotton to pop off and it should say pop on then and then you just let it sit and it will say complete and pop mode is now on.

Yeah you change alot of things that way. I played with the options on mine. That is were you go to turn off the different bands like X and the emergency alerts.

There is only one radar detector that is known to work much better than any other one. Valentine 1. It out performs passport and anything else. You can find guys with passport paying speeding tickets, with Valentine 1 owners it is way harder.

Jammers work. They are illegal and you can get a ticket for using one, or suspecion of using one. Plus technology evolves quickly, this isnt a one time investment.

The best radar detector is your eye and good judgement. I had to collect a lot of points to develop that. Nowadays, there is time and place for speeding. The best thing you can do is get involved with SCCA or an auto x, and leave the illegal part behind for the most part.

Going 100+ in a safe environtment is fun. Doing something like 40 over 55 in traffic is idiotic. Some places are good for this, such as the parking garage, or twisty country roads, if its just straight line its not fun.

They worl great I have a Beltronics 995i works awsome long range about a mile on the highway but here in Florida cops sit in the road with no Radar on all the time, the one thing I have learned though is if it's beeping Ka it is a cop. That is the only time I have ever seen Ka,a nd it is rare. Here in Florida anyway

POP and "Instant ON", while similar, are not exactly the same. Most modern radar units can be used in the Instant On mode; the unit sends no detectable signal until the Officer activates it. The signal goes out and returns, giving a speed readout in about 2secs; most drivers cannot react fast enough. In the POP mode, an extremely short burst is transmitted in either K or Ka bandwidth, and even if detected by one of the few detectors capable of picking up the signal, your speed is calculated almost instantly. The manufactors of POP have advised law enforcement agencies that the tecnology is not solid enough to be used to write citations. But, who is to say that all Officers are honest enough to admit that they stopped you as a result of using the POP mode and not just conventional X, K, or Ka? In any case, you take your chances when you "play."
