Default GTO

so they stopped makin the "new" GTOs, however, I for one liked them! I dont know why but ive heard they are a dog from the launch. Im looking at a few now (probably dreaming but ive been looking for a few newer V8s) is the 5.7 liter V8 any type of new stang competition? its like 350 hp and 365ish tq, but probably heavier than a new stang. as anyone raced the non LS2 (6.0l) one? if you have throw your story up here, it would be a daily driver with some power, but ive been able to find a few cheaper than new stangs and other cars in teh same class (prolly cus most people think they are fuggin ugly! ) thanks guys any help is appreciated.

I'm sure that they are a tad bit slower than an 05+ GT. Look around after the F-Body and probably the skittles those cars are involved in a good bit of the races on here.

it is said that if you can launch well with those, then you can proably take the new GTs (especially the LS2). With the LS1s you are lookin at probably a driver's race with a 05+ GT (with the GTO pullin out up top by just a little)

GTOs are nice IMO I like their interiors and ****, but they do look too much like a cavalier/grand prix coupe

i have never seen a 5.7 N/A get out of the 14's and the 6.0's i have seen run 13.8 range..they must be hard to drive or something[&:].....if you want a DD i would look for a Ls1 Maro or T/A, better looking and faster, and in my experience cheeper...that is if you MUST go GM

I'd think the GTO would be a better car to live with everyday, but yeah if your primary concern is speed you may want to go with the Ws6/Z28 (or and LS1 F-body I'm sure they are all about the same)

Assuming a competent driver an LS1 GTO is about even with an S197 GT (mid 13's), though most owners seem to be getting slightly better times with the Mustang. A 400 hp 6.0L LS2 GTO will simply overpower the 4.6L.

Get the GTO, you won't be disappointed. Besides, you won't see them everywhere and no one will equate your car to a mullet. Just kiding Camaro guys.....

I've driven an 05 GTO and I gotta tell ya they have big stupid power stock. Once they get rolling they can get to 140 as fast as anything out there save a corvette or viper! They really don't handle all that great and their shifters have one of the longest throws i've ever seen. The interior is kinda cramped but sweet looking and loaded with goodies.
