You should make a sig with what car and what mods so we dont doubt you when you make a post sayin you killed a fast car. Nice kill btw. I have yet to see a GT500 on the road. Although today i did see a Ford GT.

Yeah? I don't get it. The GT500s are fast... but not that fast stock. They run what? high 12s? I'm sure even just a mildly modded LS1 could do similiar...

Maybe you GM guys can help me out because the numbers still don't ad up to me. The last year of production for Camaros and T/A's had 325 Hp and ran the quarter in 13.5(Says motor trend) they also weighed 3550. Now you say the usual bolt ons get you in the 11's? A cam change is good for 40 or 50 hp and heads maybe another 50hp.(neither of these upgrades are easy bolt ons)To run 11.8 in a 3550 pound car you'll need 535 crank hp. By way of comparsion a 3200 poundZ06 Corvettewith a hand built 427 small block thats makeing an underated505Crank hp. and runs high 11's low 12's! A GTO has 400 hp and runs the quarter in low to mid 13's. (I know they outweigh a camaro by 300 pounds) Now you can strip a Camaro to the bone and get it to weigh as much as a Corvette. You can slap on a set of slicks for traction. But nobody drives around on the highwaylike this on a daily basic I hope??? The original thread sounds like a highway run. Now to totally walk away from a GT500 your going to need 550Hp or more. How are you guys doing this on just motor??? Im not calling bull sh*t because I have seen 11 second Camaros but they had power adders. Whats your guys secret???

And after you clear this up for me we can talk about the legend of the 12 second stock LS1's you always hear about.
Bolt on's won't get you in the 11's on a full weight F body, but bolt on+a cam + big converter will. Your numbers abouve are way off. It's been proven that GM underrarted the LS1 in the F body to keep the Vette nerds happy. Real world numbers show that it's very common for an LS1 f body to put done 300+ rwhp. Cam swaps are not really a big deal, you don't even have to remove the intake on the LS1 to do it (there's a really cool trick to move the lifters out of the way). I dyoed 393 rwhp on a Mustang dyno with my bolt ons and cam swap, so I assume that I am making about 440 or so crank hp. Remember though that my car 60 foots very well. As for the stock 12 second f body, GM High Tech did it and Muscle Mustangs did it, and it was not a corrected number, but it was run at at one of the fastest tracks in the country (Atco NJ).

And it's a full 1/4 pass non of that sissy 1/8 mile crap either[8D]

LOL....I'm offended by that.

By the way JD. How long have you had a cam setup in your SS? Have you had any reliability issues? Have you had any emission issues (either throwing codes or being unable to pass smog)?.

Over a year now and no issues at all. I pass smog but only because of they way they test here in IL. I have no cats on the car, but as long as I don't show codes I pass. The tuning software I use allows me to edit and delete codes.

thank you for setting the record straight.

with suspension work, h/c/i and bolt ons; 11's are not much of a problem for an LS1; from what i've seen. (all motor)

I have stock heads and a stock LS6intake. Our intakes are good for over 500 rwhp.
