Man seeing all these 5.0 stories has got me wanting to get another one. I had a 89 notch back in high school and loved it. The car was squirrely and a handful to drive but man what a ride. It was quick back in the day but nothing like whats on the street now. I know I am no longer intimidated by 5.0's but every once in a while you catch that one and he makes you rethink things.
Nice kill of the SRT. I cant' stand those little cars. The car is a great performer, but most of the owners are morons. The few I've taken out all act like some act of god just took place for them to have lost.
Around my area I see alot of ones that are quicker. I rarely see a 5.0 driving around thats not built.

anywhere near 295 rwhp? do the math... Its a gt-40 302 crate motor from ford racing rated for 345hp (obviously crank horsepower). it has all of a thousand miles on it the clutch and rearend, the tranny is fairly new. i have 24 lb injectors, tricj flow upper and lower street heat intake, 70mm throttle body, new aluminum ford racing oversized radiator, new exhaust all the way through, shorty header catless hpipe and 2 chamber flowmasters. and a dyno tune and chip. it has been tuned 2 times already. brand new and with about 1100 miles on it. so even at an 18% loss to the tires that is still 285 at the tires and with new clutch tranny and rearend everything being tight it probably wouldn't be 18%. so think before you say "anywhere near 295hp!"

ha ha. I hope not man. But I think you know what I'm talking about. But out in my area most are teen age kids that beat up on lowly Civics andLancers all day. When they run up against a car like mine they get all pissed off. It's actually quite comical sometimes. I wish I had a camera just to show the expressions of some guys faces.
Oh and as far as the 5.0's in my area, most are just tired versions that pose no threat. I've only seen a few hot ones in my area, but they are always going the opposite way. There was a black 5.0 notchback that a black guy drove around here. I ran neck and neck with him in my RX-4 a few months ago. But my RX-4 was no slouch either. That guy was shocked as hell when he put a length on me at the light and I started to reel him back in by the top of 2nd gear. We finished almost even after 3rd and back off due to traffic. I haven't seen that car in a while now though. It was really nice.
