I knew they had some power, but I didn't know they had the LS2 power in them. Plus, they only weigh 3500 pounds according to their site. I'm tickled about this kill. Vid
I guess be glad it was not the SCed meth injected one I saw last month at the track. Seems like he ran low to mid 12's with some tractiion issues.

That's impressive about the intake/muffler/tire'd s197 running 12.8's. I don't recall that. Wonder what the exact slip was? Anyone have it? Weak *** trap speed, so I'm sure it was a killer 1/8th.

Nice kill man those cars definetly have *****, I think the only place they suffer is in the launch, but who cares its a luxury car that can press you into the back of your seat.

Yeah, they won't trap like your LS1 will, but they can come out of the hole like monsters, if you do it right. Depends on how you like to run your 1/4. Do you like high traps, impressive 60's, or if you're like me, youlike to simply win. I race to win even though you can't win em all.

Uh, well, I won't have a chance with that thing. You see, the Ford should step the game up some more too[:@]and not charge us 70,000 to do it.

I really appreciate the respect everyone has had for the CTS-V in this thread. My Dad and I have always been Mustang fans (still are) so the respect goes right back to ya! He's currently got a mint '95 GT and will soon be upgrading to a '06 or '07 if we can find the right deal.

I've hadmy Vfor about 2 years now and it's a love/hate relationship. As many have stated, the '04 and '05 have the 400hp/395tq LS6. The '06 and up have the 400hp/395tq LS2. The car weighs a whopping 3850 lbs w/o driver. Wheel hop is horrible and breaks rear diffs like they're made of glass. I'm personally on my 4th rear (all covered under warranty so far) and am considering an aftermarket option that just became available. However, I'm hoping this diff will hold out long enough so I can see what the next generation CTS-V has to offer...hopefully a nice LS7

Stock, the car runs low 13's @ 109ish mphgiven a perfect launch and a great driver. With my mods I've only bested a 12.8s 1/4 mile but trapped 116mph. I'm not the best driver but I consider myself pretty good. From a roll this car is pretty quick. It was designed as a sporty road course touring sedan. Drag racing isn't in it's blood with this suspension setup.

I bought the car new for $45k +TTL. The '04s can be had for about $29-30k. The '06s+ have a rear that is supposed to be a little stronger but my 3rd diff was the '06 model and it only lastedtwo months. The LS6 is from the previous model (C5)Corvette ZO6. The LS2 is now GM's workhorse motor. Tons of mods are available for both motors.

Hope that clears up some of the confusion. Have a great 4th of July!

Nope, you're safe. The Getrag differential on the CTS-V is also found in the base model CTS, the Cadillac SRX, the Pontiac Solstice and the Saturn Sky. People with the base model CTS even have diff problems so it's not wonder the V-series will suffer. Onthe other hand, the CTS-V race cars apparently use the safe diff...though it's cryo-treated I believe...and usually gets replaced every couple of races.
