CTS-V kill
ORIGINAL: Seattle CTSV
I really appreciate the respect everyone has had for the CTS-V in this thread. My Dad and I have always been Mustang fans (still are) so the respect goes right back to ya! He's currently got a mint '95 GT and will soon be upgrading to a '06 or '07 if we can find the right deal.
I've hadmy Vfor about 2 years now and it's a love/hate relationship. As many have stated, the '04 and '05 have the 400hp/395tq LS6. The '06 and up have the 400hp/395tq LS2. The car weighs a whopping 3850 lbs w/o driver. Wheel hop is horrible and breaks rear diffs like they're made of glass. I'm personally on my 4th rear (all covered under warranty so far) and am considering an aftermarket option that just became available. However, I'm hoping this diff will hold out long enough so I can see what the next generation CTS-V has to offer...hopefully a nice LS7
Stock, the car runs low 13's @ 109ish mphgiven a perfect launch and a great driver. With my mods I've only bested a 12.8s 1/4 mile but trapped 116mph. I'm not the best driver but I consider myself pretty good. From a roll this car is pretty quick. It was designed as a sporty road course touring sedan. Drag racing isn't in it's blood with this suspension setup.
I bought the car new for $45k +TTL. The '04s can be had for about $29-30k. The '06s+ have a rear that is supposed to be a little stronger but my 3rd diff was the '06 model and it only lastedtwo months. The LS6 is from the previous model (C5)Corvette ZO6. The LS2 is now GM's workhorse motor. Tons of mods are available for both motors.
Hope that clears up some of the confusion. Have a great 4th of July!
