I read about it at work tonight. We now own a C5 bro. The corvette community is VERY upset.

The guys that can afford to take a $15k hit on the LS2 C6 dont car but guys like me got robbed.
There's nothing to be upset about. The news of the new engine in the next gen Vette's is pretty old. Those that were impatient enough to not wait have only themselves to blame really. It's not like it's the end of the world ... either way you have a fantastic car that performs better than the majority of the cars on the road in many types of driving. And as was said before, that kind of power is only a few bolt ons away in an LS engine anyway

uhmmm ..... damn vettes lol
but meh ... can´t complain, it´s a car worth more than double than mine, specially here in Mex, Premium GT = 29K dlls, Corvette Coupe = 69K dlls [&:][:@][:'(]
I, for one, have never seen the Vette as some kind of rival..........like alot of stangheads seem to. I've always felt that the Mustang and the Corvette were the two definitive iconic American cars. I think it's cool as s**t to see my GT and my brother's Vette parked next to each other at Sunday dinner.

The Vette gets the thumbs up from me, no matter how stupid fast they get. I'll save my rivalry grit for the upcoming Camaro and Challenger.

I heard that the new 'Vette will be heavier than the current C6's, thus negating *some* of that hp advantage. I read that on the Corvette forums.

I like the new hp increase. It helped be get my Z06 for $3500 off of sticker.

The weight should be just fine. The new LS3 weighs about as much a the LS2. I think GM is trying to prepare for the 400hp M3 among other things.. Also the LS3 will be supercharged in GMs new super Vette. It will be pushing some 650hp. The new LS3 was built with strength in mind. It will be able to handle some alot of PSI. FI guys will love it.

I also heard in the forums that the torque curves are strikingly similar to the LS2s.

It's good to know that GM has got some great enthusiasts on their performance line-up....The numbers on this LS3 are better than I expected......389rwhp is a small drivetrain loss for a rated 430bhp powerplant......This LS3 in reality is very close to 450bhp...

Your off by a whopping 20K. The average Corvette coupe goes for 44K..options can take it up to..52K The Z06 starts at 70K..and can go up to 77K. Mexico is ripping you guys off.

Well the dyno sheet that was posted on the link I put up seems to have the Tq curve climbing hard after 2500rpm's.....While an LS2 starts climbing hard lower in the power band.... But this is early in the game, when more dyno results are posted...and more importantly track times are gathered I'm sure this new LS won't disapoint.....With full bolt-ons/gears this car should be a solid mid to high 11 second runner!!! Thats close to C6Z territory..stock with a average driver of course!!! Allthough with the weight disadvantage and a crappier suspention my money is still on the Z..

Yeah it going to funny to watch a guy in a Convertable with CAI, headers and exhaust run cosistent mid-high 11s. 387hp with bolts ons will go up to 445rwhp easy. Thats 500+ to the flywheel.
