I heard that the new 'Vette will be heavier than the current C6's, thus negating *some* of that hp advantage. I read that on the Corvette forums.

I like the new hp increase. It helped be get my Z06 for $3500 off of sticker.
+1

Not to mention thetorque #'sis'nt ashigh in the low RPM range like the LS2.....
I also heard in the forums that the torque curves are strikingly similar to the LS2s.

http://www.caranddriver.com/carnews/...nvertible.html
Well the dyno sheet that was posted on the link I put up seems to have the Tq curve climbing hard after 2500rpm's.....While an LS2 starts climbing hard lower in the power band.... But this is early in the game, when more dyno results are posted...and more importantly track times are gathered I'm sure this new LS won't disapoint.....With full bolt-ons/gears this car should be a solid mid to high 11 second runner!!! Thats close to C6Z territory..stock with a average driver of course!!! Allthough with the weight disadvantage and a crappier suspention my money is still on the Z..
In all fairness the LS7 Z06 is a solid 10 second car with traction and that stupid *** TM out of the picture.... I think as power numbers go up the TM thing gets worse.... Imagine the LS3 won't perform as well as we think because of it. I can picture the LS2 being close the LS3 on the 1/4 mile track with the LS3 having more mph at the end... I guess time will tell but it seems GM is getting more and moreaggresive with their TM tuning...

thank goodness that they will have so much power...they need that extra power to sit in the garage, outside of the golf course, or along the edges of a car show while the owner sits and sips coors light...

LOL

I went to get my car serviced the other day and my service tech told me "wow you actually drive it?" I said yeah, thats why I bought it. He metold about 90% percent of the Z06 owners don't put more than 400 miles on them between oil changes the never meet the milage requirements for a free one so they always pay. One guy told him that the car performs better the less you drive it.

a friend of my dad's buys a new vette every year, or every other year...always a base model, and he never drives it. he had a ZR1 when i was younger...dark green, IIRC, and i saw it out of the garage once...and he traded it with something like 2,000 miles on it.

at a car show this past weekend, there was a guy who looked to be mid 50s, with a red C5. he had one of those "car show boards" with the stats of the car and such...nothing special done to the car, and his big bragging right was that the car only had 10,000 original miles on it.

Well, I can't say I'm putting the yearly average on the OD.....but I'm definately putting more than 400miles between oil changes...lol

Yes Meguires, Eagle One, and for the cheap skates Turtle wax would go belly up overnight if GM pulled the plug on the Corvette....[8D] You can always count on three things in a Corvette.....An old fart, a low odometer, and a terry cloth for last minute unexpected bird ****......

I have about 5,200 miles on my Z06. I got it at the end of April. I think I drive it a good amount.

You should atleast get some drag radials. Trying to put down that much power on street tires at the track isn't safe imo. Especially if you change the gears.

So what do you plan to do? Sounds like you'll be needing to step up to some juice or F/I yourself.

Unless you don't plan to run into anything but stock LS3 cars.[8D]

Forget it dude....there's ALWAYS gonna be someone faster. Shoot, I was all set to work my way up to 10psi and do some gears when I realized that nothing I do with this car on the street requires anything quicker than what I'm running. 99% of the cars that entice me into a run on the streets don't have a prayer as it is. Those who can take me out........deserve the win. And while I do plan to track my car sometime soon (hopefully), I have no ET goals for my ride whatsoever. It'll run the track, as is, street tires and all. Whatever it runs.......it runs. To hell with the rat racin.

Not trying to rant on ya C6, just be careful about getting into the 1-up game when the new kids on the block arrive. It'll start to take a toll on your pocketbook, believe me.

put in the hands of a capable driver i think the vette will see high 11's. I am still waiting for the numbers from the headers that should be interesting.
