3000GT
'91-'96 Base: DOHC 222HP FWD (5-speed manual or 4-speed auto)
'97-'99 Base: SOHC 161HP FWD (5-speed manual of 4-speed auto)
'91-'99 SL: DOHC 222HP FWD (5-speed manual or 4-speed auto)
'91-'93 VR4: DOHC Twin Turbo 300HP AWD (5-speed manual only)
'94-'99 VR4: DOHC Twin Turbo 320HP AWD (6-speed manual only)
Stealth
'91-'96 Base: SOHC 161HP FWD (5-speed manual or 4-speed auto)
'91-'93(?) ES: DOHC 222HP FWD (5-speed manual or 4-speed auto)
'91-'96 R/T: DOHC 222HP FWD (manual or auto)
'91-'93 R/T TT: DOHC Twin Turbo 300HP AWD (5-speed only)
'94-'96 R/T TT: DOHC Twin Turbo 320HP AWD (6-speed only)
the second gen stealth 94-96(identified by the non popup headlights) are crazy fast, the run 4.9 0-60 and low 13s 1/4 mile times
they do weigh 4000 lbs though because of the awd, so thats why they run what they run for thier hp, but the awd makes 600 hp (easy in these car) hook with ease
a friend of mine is running high 11s now with 26 lbs of boost with the stock turbo, that car launched like nothing ive ever ridden in before, just a small chirp with a 4k dump and then my face managed to rearanged itself

RE: Twin Turbo Dodge Stealth???
honestly, the stealth looks so horrible. the 3000gt looks a little better. however, they are heavy though. I also know alot of people having machanical problems on the stealth and trans problems on the 3000gt. i guess mitsubishi sucks at trans. if you can find a 3000GT VR4 hard-top spyder, please give me a call.
those are rare and sexy.
"Mitsubishi's 3000GT Spyder is the first retractable hard top since the 1959 Ford Skyliner. A total of 1,618 Spyders were ever produced. 741 were the non-turbo SL model and 877 were the twin-turbo VR4. That makes the Spyder one of the most unique production cars in the entire world."

RE: Twin Turbo Dodge Stealth???
the second gen stealths look totally bad ***, esspecially at night- the 1st gens are fugly
the stealth and 3kgt are exactly the same under the sheet metal so any mechanical problems with one, you will have with the other
its the transfercases that suck, there is no aftermarket one, and when they fail, they will lock up
only the tt came with awd not standard r/ts

the Vr4 is pretty cool i have to say. my friends got the '91 first gen Vr4. except. yeah the tranny does suck ***. his tranny locked up and had it rebuilt. well the rebuild didnt fix any of the 1st and 2nd gear grinding problems it had before and the mechanic ssaid it was the control arm?? how could just a control arm cause grinding??

typically, people who generalize about problems that "all of a certain make/model have" dont have any experience working on or dealing with anything other than what they drive, if that...
cars like the RTTT stealth was made to be aperformance car (obviously) but people bought them and beat the crap out of them...dont let the turbo cool, etc..and go figure, they died...the same could be said about any make or model performance car.

All you can really do is take care of your car and drive it properly, that's usually enough to keep any car from leaving you stranded too many times or walking most days.

RE: Twin Turbo Dodge Stealth???
i think all that was done to the car was exhaust- he really didnt pull away from me that fast when he took off- i didnt even hit it i just continued at my regular speed, due to traffic in my lane, but it really didnt seem to move out that fast...

RE: Twin Turbo Dodge Stealth???
I was lined up next to a Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 at the track the other day. While we were sitting there waiting for our turn we started chatting a bit. He said he had done quite a few things to his car but wasn't really specific. He asked the same to me and I returned the same answer, "just some bolt-ons". He said it's going to be "race of the Mitsubishis".
It was a pretty good race too. He did much better then I thought. He ran a 12.8 @ 109. I ended up running an 11.6 @ 119. I'm sure his car was faster then that but it was in the mid 90's and the humidity was horrible which was killing everyones times/traps.
Be careful if you run into a modded one, they scoot pretty good.
