the only way to build heat in the tire is to get the wheel speed up, so dont even bother with a 1st gear burnout, do a second to third, in any car

you should never have to do long burnouts, the more tire speed the faster it heats up

I wholly agree, if by "long" you mean more than 5-6 seconds. It is simple physics that the tire speed will glaze over and the extra friction will raise the temp of the glazed over surface rather than chunk it off with lower speed spin.

In an automatic that might be slightly possible. In a manual, why the fock would you ever risk clutch and tranny to try a THIRD GEAR BURNOUT?????? Have you even ever drag raced?

sure dont sound like he has....

3rd gear LOL. thatd be between 70-100mph in the burnout box for my car hahah

1st gear at 35mph works just fine.

WOAH

we are all forgeting that tires will not give you better traction alone

you need to look at your suspension also: strut bars, subframe connectors, sturt stiffners, control arms. etc.....

my best 1/8th was a 8.673

on street tires (nitto555's)

60' was 2.097

getting nasty irs hop and wheel spin thru 1st and 2nd

also maby try launching a little lower in the rpms
