the 7 bolt has nothing to do with it (well, very little to do with it)...with a little more hunting, youll find that many people with modded DSMs have gone to a 6 bolt, as they are less likely to walk. the 1g models had something like 10 less horsepower, but that is easy to overcome.

 

Don't forget, John Shephard drives a Talon..... I think it's a 7 second car and looks pretty stock with the exception of the parachute on the back. Go to street fire and typehis name in the search box and you'll get some pretty sick vids of him running the car.

If I'm not mistaken, the stock Talon if turboed had between 190 to 210 hp depending on year. They can be made to go very fast!

 

I ran a FWD later model talon down the 1/4.. he bogged his launch, slept at the tree, and missed a shift all the while still passing my 04 GT 3/4th of the the way downand ended up at 13.6 to my 14.1.. talked to him later and he was running an aftermarket intake with a simple boost gauge andfull exhaust whilerunning the most boost out of the stock snail he could without hitting fuel cut... now he has bigger injectors and an aftermarket turbo and last I heard he wasplunging into thelow 12's.... IMO you will get crushed

 

my friend just built up a dohc 2.0 95 talon, over bored it and has forged pistons. he is NA but they are still a quick car.

 

He will most likely embarass your v-6.

 

shep ran high7s with street tires...and im pretty sure that last year he got into the deep 7s with slicks. its sick.

im only running stock boost, with the stock boost restrictor...so around 10psi with the full exhaust, but ive been told that removing the restrictor will give me another pound or so...and the 1g will handle 14psi at the manifold with no other upgrades, and 14-15 is around the max for the stock turbo..some guys are running it higher, but it will only spike higher, and flatten out to around 15psi.

 

i remember when i had my talon..i sold it before i even got my license because when my mommy would get on it i knew it was too slow[&:]. but turbo talons aren't bad, stock vs stock it'd be pretty equal, so just find out if he's stock and do a dig race.

 

So is everone saying maybe/maybe not?
If not some, 3.73's in the TQ Monster might close any gaps.

 

They can be modded easily. My uncle had one and could take down ls1's with it. He had a boost controller set at18 psi and a bigger down pipe. Forget what else I think he did somethin else minor too it.

 

at 18 PSI he has bigger injectors and an aftermarket snail... that part I know, I ran a ricer kid with a boost controller on a FWD TSI with basic bolt on'sthat stepped it up to 19PSI after he lost with 12PSI....on stock injectors and a stock turbo and he hit fuel cut and his crank walked

there is some bad info on that vid though... it was a 96 with FWD, and the first run was at 12PSI

also.. if you look at the first run closely he was absolutely covering me in smoke out of his exhaustbetween his shifts, def not a nicely setup car
