and for the record, i said the ss is the fastest camaro, which it is, i didnt say a z28 with the same parts ADDED wouldnt be as fast, SS'sare slightyly upgraded a maro guy said it was an option you can buy it that way from chevy STOCK, more than just cometics, not a z28, so wheres the correction? maybe they should teach you how to read

First off the SS isent the fastest camaro, the ZL-1 is. Second off it isent more than just cosmetics. Its exsactly that. Both cars have 350 BHP and about 300 RWHP. The only thing the SS has over the Z28 is the hood scoop, spoiler & interrior. The only exceptions were the firehawk & SLP which came with slight modification. All of them run low 13s. Z28 = SS = WS6 = T/A

 

then why are z28 rated at 305 hp and the ss 325 or so? thats what my buddy read when he was shopping for his camaro a few months back

 

saying it's not faster implies no exceptions... low 13's means 13.0-13.4 but OVERALL one willbe more likely to win even if it is an EXCEPTION with SLIGHT SLP MODS

if your just gonna prove to me that im right because there is an exception that you know of yourself, you know theres a maro ss with slp mods that is more LIKELY to win, save your post stop tryin to rack up points

im not a maro owner nor do i know the history like a stang but i think the car is awesome even if i dont no everything about it. i appreciate the new knowledge i've gained, i now know that the camaro ss was the fastest production camaro in its time with the exception of slp mods, making it faster then the z28 ever so slightly making it more LIKELY to win, the ss is faster, im glad you could tell me that, or did i already know that?

the only difference between z28 and ss is about 10 or 15hp and appearance. thats it

thats what chevy did to seperate them. In reality they all have 350 BHP. Chevy published 325 to seperate them from the base Corvette which didnt have alot more HP and costed alot more.

 

Maybe you didnt under stand. The SLP camaro & firehawk T/A were sold under different names, They were not standard WS6s or SSs'. The SS & Z28 have the EXSACT same HP. And with equal drivers they will run the EXSACT same 1/4 mile time. BOTH cars came with 350BHP, Chevy published different numbers, as I stated above.

 

Sticker price determined the advertised horsepower ratings. The LS1 cars had a very wide price range, from $21k to $50k. All with the same motor.

BTW - The 2000 ZL-1 was not the only ZL-1 camaro ever made. They also made a ZL-1 that was an orginal COPO camaro and it was a production car. And the most powerful production camaro ever made. So as I was saying the ZL-1 is the fastest stock camaro made...

 

i see what your saying about the old school maro being the fastest, never seen a quarter mile slip for that car tho, it would be nice to see what it could do, but im sure you no and you can tell me so what is it? curious, anways i like maro's but it seems stupid to build a car with the same power and call it somethin else, but money is money, it fooled me, i will always refer to an ss as a z28 from now on cus from what you said there is nothing super sporty about it, not one single horsepower difference from the factory,lol gm is stupid

anyways it was a fun race and ill give every z28 the same respect as a ss as to not affend the ego of people who own a z28

lets stop with the bs, i had a good time beating a camaro on a semi-fair race,ill do it again anytime they are my greatest competition and i love the way they idle, will i win everytime? no but it will be fun and thats all im trying post, a fun time, one time, light spankin, on one of my biggest, no longer feared, competitors.

im not trying to offend any z28 without the cool spoiler by saying the one with the cool spoiler is truely faster, i didnt no that, untill nowi believed what gm put out, ford did the same with the mach 03-04, it seems smarter to get the cheaper one so you can rest your case now and talk about a fun time you had beating a mach on one day if you have, i like the races stories not the bs, its about the race not what i raced especially since its the same thing so get over it.

i dont wanna hear what any car can do i wanna hear about what u DID, in my case, i beat the z28 ss camaro (pretty fairly, the cars are evenly matched and its a drivers race, i wouldnt write about it if i didnt respect it), have you beat any machs, 4v's, or other soouped up stangslately? if so, lets here about it. other then that, theres nothing else worth hearing and you can move to another thread
