I am just saying that I have never seen personally that the LS1 can be that fast with nothing really done to it. pandaj, as far as it being an eye opening experiance it was. mach5ive, with what you have done to your car if you can;t beat a stock LS1 you should kill yourself. I really wanted the Mach 1 but apparently you guys are missing the point, for less than half the cost of a stock Mach 1 I could have an f-body with the same mods that guy had and then hand you your *** when I use some of the 10-12 grand I saved buying that car to buy heads and a cam. I was only stating how I have never seen in person the beast-ness of an LS1 with only BASIC bolt-ons.

Project, what would you consider "that fast" or "beastly?" Give an ET figure and I can tell you what common modifications are needed to get an LS1 there.

^With equal gearing and transmissions yes, that's correct.

i understand what ur sayin but your logic is all screwed up, go buy the car that makes you say, that **** is mine baby! dont go get one that says, if i bolt on stuff i will go fast, your missing therelationship between car and owner. you can make anything fast, if ur only goal is to go as fast as you can for the least amount of money, open your eyes to all the potential possibilities, you have notopened your eyes, you have just discovered the nature of the ls1, which isone great possibility, everyone loses and everyone wins, you will get your *** handed to you by a lot of things you didnt expect once u go to the track or street race some, so you might as well get the car that you really want, if that happens to be the ls1, get it. but dont get it just cause you sawone guys go fast, get it cause you cant stop thinkin about how cool it is to you, not how cool someone elses was

I drove my boys stock ws6 a few weeks ago. I went a 13.16@106. It will go 12.90's all stock with dr's. It'sa fast car but a Mach 1 is equal, I have seen Mach's go the samething. And the Mach feels like a better car and sounds twice as nice.

^Your dragstrip experience with your friend'sWS6 is typical for a 6-speed LS1 F-body (provided a reasonable driver and weather conditions). But Mach 1s run 13.1 all stock on stock rubberas well?[:-] Almost all the info I have received from this site about those cars would seem to refute that. But then I don't own a Mach 1 so I don't know for sure.

In the same conditions that an F-Body has touched 12s ...mach 1s have touched 13.0~13.1... A number of people have claimed so stock.....

Of course the Mach 1 registry list 1 source as going 13.1 stock (Evan Smith)

According to their '12 second club' 2 members have gone 13.2 stock.... yet it gets claimed constantly. I asked for proof of a bone stock run faster than evan smitsh and was presented with a video of a 'stock' 12 second pass that I was able to proof fake (guy had headers amoung other mods) within 10 minutes.

They are great cars don't get me wrong but from experience mustangs have been easier to take down the 1/4 than f-bodys... I've had plenty of seat time in edge GT stangs and I honestly believe that they are easier to launch (for me it was night and day)... don't see why the mach would be much different than the GT as far as that goes...

Well you go ahead and getan ls1, but dontgo cryingwhen you start seeing mach's that'll give you a run for your money with 1/3 of the miles, and 10x the sex appeal... Ls1's are fast, but you'd think that withthat large of a displacement difference they'd be able to put quite a bit more distance on me!
Been over this a million times...but way to stay unbiased in this situation.

BTW you can pick up an LS1 for 5~6K if you look hard enough...last time I looked it will be a LONG time before Machs come down enough in price for your statement to be valid. It's a rare car compared to the number of LS1 powered F-Bodys made total.
Just about every ls1 i've seen had 50k+ and an ls1 for 5-6k, im willing to bet has atleast twice, if not more,as many miles as my mach. And im sorry if im a little biased, being a mustang owner on a mustang forum!

Sorry if i hurt your feelings "projectquick"! And who said anything about "stock" ls1's!? Not once in any of my posts have i mentioned a stock ls1. One thing you'll learn in this game is that its easy to say yeah, im gonna get this and getthat and put this and put that and kill this and killthat, but untill you have something on paper all that means nothing butdiddly squat! I have several friends who happen to own ls1's and every single one of them has eithersnapped something in the rearend, or had their trannies rebuilt2 or 3 times, etc etc.. I'd rather pony up the 10 grand and take half the miles, and none of the rattles, or pains that come with a 5-7 year old car. Code hit it right on the nail when he said "You gotta pay, to play!"..

In all honesty guys, just go with what you want and dont be upset when you get a lil criticism or brand loyalty![8D]
