make a Z06 think before he races, and make the Vipers look dumb as ****.
I guess you didn't read the latest C&D that shows that the new Viper outperforms the Z06 in virtually every performance category?
by such a nil amount that it doesnt matter....

If you're only gonna RR the car a few times per year, but mostly see the strip, then the BB has definate strength and power potential advantages.

And the new Vipers are also 600hp aren't they? A 100hp increase over the previous model. Is the Z06 getting a boost as well?

I understand that, but if my dad's cousin can do it with a firebird, i can do it with a stang......the road racing will only happen like 1-2 times per year, so im not really to worried about that.
That cinches it. Just go with the 429. Sounds like you're leaning more towards building a strip monster than a track lapper. The bigger cubes will make you much happier from the sounds of it.

351W all the way!!
The 429 has many flaws, [poor quench, sparkplug placement, valves in the wrong place),and isexpensive to modify andrectify, the old 428 was much better! The 429 is a passenger car motor, best left under the hood of a T-bird (source, Popular Hot Rodding magazine, p-51 heads)
The 351 can be made into a real race motor on the cheap!!

The 351w is an excellent motor, but it doesn't have the appeal of a big block. The 429 is going to give you that monster rumble andput fear in the hearts of those you compete against. The design of the 429 may not be as great as the 351, but it can handle a lot more power and produce far more. For the strip the big block is the way to go. I lovethe 351, it's got good power potential, seems the average for hppeoplepull from these motors that I know is 350-400 well built n/aand 400-500 f/i. With a well built big block you could easily do more than that safely.
