Oh boy, in drag racing over 300 pounds is like dragging a boat ankor behind you. Drivers race.

Unless he's a great driver I'd give you the nod. Supposedly you can get high 14's out of them, but I'v never seen it.

They are both low 15 second cars, it is a drivers race.
definately both at least mid-high 14 sec cars. truthfully i'd give the edge to the 4.0. I drove an rx8 once and it was powerless until the upper rpm range. If you can keep it up there its pretty quick, but its tough. If he isn't experienced with the car it's all you, if he is, its gonna be very close.
Yeah but that would leave only the launch being powerless.....Even then you can launch at a decent RPM and be pulling pretty hard in each gear. I'm assuming you drove an auto not a stick?

I raced an RX8(auto, 197hp)with my GT, i beat him with about 5-6 car lenghts..
Have heard GT's beatingthem by even more.. so i'm pretty sure he's lying about beating GT's.

You only beat him by 5-6 lenghts with a GT??
I beat one when I was stock ('08 V6) by 5.5-6 lengths.

I test drove an 04 Automatic 350z and a 2004 6spd RX8 back to back. The RX8 was a major disappointment. It didn't do shat until I was over 4500rpm, then it seemed to lurch forward a bit. It shifts perfect btw.The RX8 looks great and I would love to have one as a daily driver, but it downright sucks in power/torque. The auto 350z pulled wayyy better. The fact that I drove to the car lot in my 2004 GTO didn't help makeeither car feel very powerful anyway.[8D]

Point being, if 4.0 Mustangs have the slightest amount of low end torque, the RX8 will have a lot of catching up to do...auto or manual. Rx8s are NOT drag cars. They are well rounded cars......with no torque, at all.

I believe you will win this one. I'm very impressive with the abilities of the new V6 mustangs. It doesn't take much for them to be quick.

they only have like 160-165 whp..there was a big deal about it like a year or so...
plus they had some other recall issues.

They are track cars not drag cars imo with that NA rotory..nothing like the 13b rew at all.

How do you all lanuch ourcars? I rev to about 2k and let the clucth out pretty quick but not dump, then feather the gas if the tires spin (is this correct?)I remember someone saying earlier to lanuch around 1800 rpm's. And do i slip clutch or what? I have never done a drag race in my 06 4.0 yet
