Six speed untested??? Ummm, they do put one in the Viper and Viper truck. Why not use the same one?

Collecter cars......my wife made her first husband sell his White 1970 Challenger R/T 440 back in the 70s because it "drove like a truck"

i dont have all of the answers...im just relaying what ive heard in talking to people. it is my understanding that they are not using the same transmission in the challenger, and i dont know why they dont use the same one. too much cost?

i also want to say that i wasnt defending collecting "normal" cars, which is in effect what all of the srt vehicles are...it will be years before the vipers are worth more than what they cost new...you can pick up the early models for around 20g now...my point about my demon was that its worth far more than what it cost new, and ive not had to deal with the insurance and such over the years...

anyways, i wouldnt sell my demon for 20...because theyre becoming harder to get, so finding a car that only saw 18,798 units in as nice of shape as mine is only getting harder.

i honestly dont understand the people who spend 40g on a car, only to have it sit in a garage for 20 years..its a waste.

Oh I know...I probably shouldn't have quoted you and Bluebeast. I have just found myself in the collector car debate way too many times, and I think just because a car comes with a Shelby, SRT or some other badge, doesn't always mean someone is going to get their money back and moreon it someday, especially when some people think they need to spend over MSRP for whatever the new hot car is.

I'm sure your Demon is a bad A$$ car, and I would keep that thing too!

weve been waiting on getting a new car for a while now, waiting for the challenger...and i started getting the itch, looking at LS1 cars...and the wife bought me the demon as a wedding gift.

we are still planning on the challenger for 09 as well. however, ive begun thinking about a diesel, as i need a tow vehicle for all these broken *** mopars...

Sorry Blue, but I just don't get the neon thing. I'd rather drive a tri-cycle.

To each his own, right? You'd definitely get a purdy view of his Neon's *** end.

Two other things,
First, Chrysler would be FOOLS not to put a manual trans with a pistol-grip shifter in this car, H@ll, they could even get away with a 4-speed!
Secondly, my 2006 Mustang GT seems more of an evolution of the species, the Challenger just looks like they found the original 1970 molds, (not that that is a bad thing), too bad they didn't find the 1968 Charger and 1969 Roadrunner molds while they were at it!

while a good look at the car makes it obvious what it is...when set side by side, the new challenger is much bigger...which may be why it weighs 4140.

i attached a picture, courtesy of the good people at chrysler..its sort of far off, but it gives a good idea of how the shape of the car differs.
