Oh, and if people think LT1's aren't 13 second cars very often, the LT1 SS's are rated at 13.8 in the 1/4 and I believe the 93 Firehawks were rated at 13.5. And, as everyone knows, magazine times aren't the fastest ratings for cars.

Well, I'm curious as to how the 'average' LT1 runs...

My GF's brother has a '95 Formula with a totally rebuilt motor, about 7-8K on it after his blew up.

Surely we can agree that a new motor should run pretty strong, or at least average.

And I can only muster a 13.8 with my driving..lol..i DO suck badly...

If he ever comes to Muncie with me I'll report back with just another statistic.

Stock for stock, an SN95 4v will not consistantly beat an LT1. They are a drivers race and I've heard of more LT1's in the 13's stock than SN95 Cobras.
I would have to say that a 96-98 cobra is going to have a sight edge stock for stock. 13.9>14.2[&:]Btw one of my criusin buddies ran a 13.7 in his stock 98 cobrathis last fall.

Ohh no.... Not the cruising buddies. Not that I am doubting you, but it is way too easy to use anintangible outside resource to make a point. For arguments sake, this guy could not even exist. Now if you were to say "Last fall I watched one of my cruising buddies run a 13.7 in his stock 98 Cobra this fall" that would hold a little more credibility.

I'm not flaming, I'm just tired of people using outside resources to make points, that no one can verify.
Um...mustangcobra94 just did buddy. BTW your sentence doesnt make sense bro. Yours is worse then mine. Maybe next time bra.

Well, if you can muster up a 13.8 and you suck badly at driving, then that proves it even more that LT1's are easily capable of 13's. Plus, motors don't reach their prime until about 20,000-40,000 miles, or so I've heard. I remember a while back, in a magazine article. They tested some vehicle when it was brand new and then tested it again with 40,000 miles and it ran almost a half a second better in the 1/4.

You still were not totally honest...don't pretend you were..lol

doesnt justify his 'toolness' but come on,, wouldnt you be kind of shocked if you were in his shoes, and the other driver had just told you he was making 205 hp to the wheels max? lol
no i believe i was totally honest. the way he said it was the way i told it. he didn't ask if my car was all stock, if so i would of told him bout my motor right away. like i said i was gonna tell him before i even asked him to run, but after he acted the way he did i didn't bother myself. if i was in his shoes i would of been smart enough for word my question better than he did
You still didn't tell him about the gears or the tune though.
because gears don't have anything to do with the motor, and honestly i forgot all about the tune lol. i normally see early sn95 4v's beating LT1's, and PI 2v running even, usually a little behind the LT1's. they are all close but i think
cobra>LT1>PI 2v (not saying they beat each other by a lot, they all are pretty close, depends on driver IMO)
with all equal drivers and such from a dig. from the roll the 4v will walk both though.

uhhh....non-PI's are pretty slow. i only lost to one by 1/2 length in my sixxer. next day i lost by at least 10 lengths to my friends bone stock 94 Z28 M6
Ya, no one said anything about a non-pi racing anything. And unless your sixer is an s197or modded you are not gonna run anywhere close to 1/2 a car toany GTif it runs right and has atleast a somewhat decent driver.

^^^ An npi GT is a mid-low 15 second car. If you've got a hard top with a 5speed and no options, you could run high 14's on a good day. A New Edge sixxer can pull a mid-high 15 with a decent driver. I actually heard that Evan Smith was able to put a bone stock New Edge sixxer into the high 14's.

nice kill. I think you were fine. He was cocky and you put him in his place. On either side, you should always go into a race w/ the assumption that your opponent has more than they are letting on.

there ya go man! nice job... The LT1 guys are dicks because they are pissed they get beat by mustangs and LS1 guys look at them as the dorky kid in gym class [8D]
I'm not a dick. And the LS1 guys are usually the overconfident drivers. Most of the ones on here are pretty cool though. And the only Mustangs that will beat LT1's consistantly have 3v's or 4v's in them and are 01's or newer. It's funny usually how inferior the LS1 guys think the LT1's are compared to the LS1.
1 second and 10 mph slower...stock to stock. Trust me I owned an LT1 for ~5 years... I don't hate them and I don't think they are worthless but I certainly know where their strengths and weaknesses are.
