Have they posted 1/4 times on the new Challenger yet? I'd love to know what they run.

I think they are cool looking cars....a slight notch below the S197 and miles ahead of the new Camaro. Just my opinion.
Ed, I can't remember what rag had a article about the car, but they did print the specs.......Just shy of 4100lbs......It has the aging 6.1 (425bhp)...and they ESTIMATED a 13.1....ESTIMATES are the lowest form of mag racing, I know.,But I would guess it's somewhere in that ballpark..
Thanks. I have a hard time swallowing that figure though. It's got 25 bhp on an LS2 GTO but it weighs more (not sure exactly how much, but I am sure an LS2 GTO doesn't tip the scales at 4100 lbs). I am thinking more of the lines of 13.4ish. I think 13.1 is way too optimistic. Just my two cents.

Damn Grabber, the only "what if" you left out was shoving a rocket up the ***.

Typically you won't see a higher trap speed by hooking harder, a lot of times you'll even decrease by hooking hard. But I could see a possible 119 out of it. Not really impressive for a v8 with an aftermarket supercharger IMO.

Challenger looks good. Most accurate thus far on the retro thing.

There is a manual option being released on this car...perhaps those extra couple tenths are obtainable with that option .....The one I seen in LA over the weekend was an auto (magazine/press car)....20 inch boat anchors aren't helping the cause either.....I've HEARD (yes I emphasized heard..lol) of Chargers getting in the 12's....So I would think this car should beon averagea bottom 13 second car.......If not, what a serious blow in the gut to Dodge and it's fanboys....

well, i've got a mopar buddy, and he says they have a "drag pack" that shaves 800lbs and comes with slicks.....how bout the challenger is gonna be bad ***, but the maro will fall flat on it's face due to waiting so long on the release of the new catfish.....the gotta have it is dying b/c people are tired of seeing it and not being able to have it.

True, but even then, for a 3750 LB car with driver, that is pretty good. Now, compared to a 3300 F-Body, let's even the weight and watch the traps go up. I think it is decent for what it is.

The Challenger looks good, just not practical. The GTO clocks in around 3700 lbs, so I have no idea how 25 more HP, and the same engine increases the weight 400 lbs.

So 25 more bhp and 400 lbs heavier than an LS2 GTO. And they are basically saying that the Challenger will run the same times as the Goat? Could it be because it hooks better? Other than that, I don't see it.

Unless the Trans is upgraded, and they have better factory tires and gears. Then again, no one though the GT500 would break into the mid 12's, yet it ran a 12.2. Maybe the suspension is set up for the straight shot. That would be my guess.

true true,

if it had a "manumatic", 285's or 295's out back......i might be able to see it running better times, but as it stand i just cant see it.
