My father has the 2008 M5,

Theres no possible way he was actually racing you. As much as i'd love to tell you that you honestly killed an M5, he was busting your *****. I took the M5 out against my buddy Brian who has a 2006 GT w/ Hurst shifter and a MAC Pro chamber. And I still had him by 3 lengths WITHOUT M mode pushed, and with all of the settings set to stock. They have a vast array of options controllable right through the navigation interface. Had I been on M mode, with certain settings (S5, P500s, MDM, edc sport,) It wouldn't be a race... So I'd hate to rain on your parade, But it was either a badged 550i which is very common, or he was toying with you. Because in all honesty, that car really drives itself. Especially with the SMG shifting, my girlfriend could run that car haha..
well let me just say this. The guy was trying becuase he one, slowed up for me and two we both rolled down our windows and set up the race. He was trying like crazy cuz a car was coming up in his lane and he was trying like hell to get in front of me. Nobody goes 100mph at a car in front of them just to slam on their brakes. And when the race was done we talked again and he said my car was damn fast blah blah and that he never gets to run with decent cars and then he took off again and i did too but i was ahead so he just let me go. So not to start a forum fight, he was trying. He just didn't know how to drive his car. My kill against him. fake m5 i don't know all i know is that i should have lost by atleast 3-4 length and i didn't.

The way jaybrandt describes his race,2 thingscould have happened based on the evidence:
1. You beat an M5 with M mode off (which sounds very reasonable comparing the results and everything).
2. You beat a rebadged 5 series.

My guess is you beat an M5 who was possibly a new owner. When anyone gets a new car and get a race, they always get jumpy and forget to do something(turn off TCS, turn off radio, roll up windows, etc).I don't think BMW owners rebadge their cars like some other owners do. They're pretty proud of what they got. Good Kill.

Good Kill!

Not too often you will have a run with an M5.

Like you said I believe he was trying to race you. There could be any number of variables as to why you beat an M5. However, slower/lower HP cars beat faster/higher HP cars on the street all the time. Even though 9 out of 10 times it won't there is always that 1 time it does, anything can happen on the street.

I mean it also comes down to what transmission he has, and it was possibly a new car or just a new overall driver. I apologize for coming off so strong, I mean beating an M5 with a new driver that doesnt know his car settings well isn't impossible. All I'm saying, is find somebody with an M5 that knows all of the options and variables of their car, And it's going to be an embarassing day for us pony owners. I know that M5 inside and out at this point, so I know its fastest settings. Not to mention its got instant reacting SMG Shifters, which is a smooth, perfect shift each time.

My uncle has a few Z06's on the kill list, for an example of how fast the M5's can actually be..

Good kill!

They aren't that fast.

I have a few M5s on my kill list. The races were won with cars to spare.
