Help me please :)
I had an SRT-4 for 2 years and loved the car.Though be on the lookout for fawked up 3rd gear issues, something about the gear- be it the syncros or the gears themselves are just plain fubared from the factory and it seems like everyone has issues with 3rd one way or another

search on srtforums and you will see lol.
Other then that, stay out of boost and you can get good gas mileage..boost all the time at it's sucks gas like a v8.They are fun little cars and can be made horribly fast though personally I didn't like the idea of going so fast in something that would basically crumble and look like a tin can in the face of a wreck.[&:]

It's about gearing(rpm's), engine size, and car weight. As stated I have heard of on forums and reviews people getting 10mpg better than your getting in your mach and even more mpg better than I'm getting in mine(maybe it's the exhaust, maybe the engine is still breaking in, who knows). As stated, it will save me about $1k a yr in gas and even more from insurance (probably). I'll get the numbers, do the test drives, and make a decision.
I don't see how you think a car that if I can stay out of boost most of the time will not save me money on gas. It's 500lbs lighter, 4 cylinders smaller, and is geared better for the highway. Whether you think it's smart or not, numbers don't lie and money is money. That $1k + for the first yr adds up over timetoo. It's no priusbut it is pretty damn good on gas I read.

not really.. I got almost identical gas milage in my V6 Fusion as I have in this car.. and most of those FI 4 cyl cars get ehh gas milage... you have to pay to play.
A lot of the Fbody M6's get great gas milage.. as do the vette's due to the gearing...
It's all about gearing, and your foot!! lol

You're right man, it has everything to do with driving habits, especially when it comes to a high reving 4v. You can get away with harder drivingin a N/A 4 banger, unfortunately not so much withF/I carsand V8s. Wish it was the other way around!

Are you talking Neon SRT4 or Caliber SRT4.
I just picked up a Caliber SRT4,I had owned a NSRT4 a while back. I am getting about 24-26 mpg mixed city/hwy. Not bad really, and certainly better than your Mach.
I paid 23k for the CSRT4, which these days is a bargain. It's more practical and utilitarian than theNSRT4, as well as smoother ride, and more refined than my NSRT4 was.I like itmore than the NSRT4 for those reasons. Also, lifetime warranty, and 5 star crash ratingis a plus over the NSRT4.
I'd keep the Mach as opposed to a used NSRT4, unless you find a very low mileage mintcar.

OK, I am really brainstorming options on saving money for my future. Here are some things I thought up:
1. Equal trade(sale and buy, etc) if my mach 1 for a cobalt ss/sc w/under 25k miles and a warranty for a couple years, possibly up to 6 years.
Key notes=Cheaper insurance and better gas mileage while still having a nice car that isn't slow.
2. Sell the mach 1 and get a GT with 35k miles or less and throw on a nice exhaust and short throw shifter. Looking at years, I will tell you prices: 99-04 I net gain (from mach 1 to GT) $6k-$9k, 94-98 GTI net gain more than thatif I could find the car, and I can't find any low mileage 5.0'sso that'sout the window.
Key notes=Still in stang family, cheaper insurance, but same gas mileage while keeping V8 rumble.
3.Same premise as number 2 but I get a Camaro or Firebird LT1(doubt I'll find a cheap unmolested LS1 and their insurance is probably up there anyway).
Key notes=same as #2 but in chevy family instead of stang family, but will still show mustang love
Ideas? Comments? Suggestions?
